Frank's Child Chapter 42 Home Found
She sits on stairs leading into Lallybroch, nursing three month old Lambert Brian. Below her Quinn, age three is being chased around by her daddy.
Yes, this was home. She sometimes thinks or dreams about her life before. But she knows, even if Frank hadn't went insane, she would have never been fully happy in her time. For, it wasn’t really her time. This was. Where Jamie was is where she belonged, with their children. She switches sides and her red haired son quickly latches on and starts to suckle like he is starving.
“Lamb, you sure have your daddy's appetite.” She coos to him, stroking his soft skin.
Jamie. She hadn't lost her overwhelming urge for him. Only the necessity of child birth and the time after, keeps them apart. She has been investigating different forms of conception control. As much as she adores her children and wouldn’t mind having a few more, she wants them spaced out. It would also help her good sister, as Jenny had given birth to twins, a few months before Lamb's birth.
Jamie comes up leaving Quinn to play with her cousins. “I will ne' grow tired of seeing you thus.” He softly says.
“You like seeing my breasts.” She teases.
“Aye but nae it is more then that. It is seeing you nuture them. Seeing them grow fat and healthy under your feedings.”
“God Jamie, just when I think I can't love you more, you say something like that.” Lamb, satiated, falls off his mam's breast. Claire offers him to his daddy so she can sort her clothes. He lifts him up to his shoulder and rubs his back.
“I love you more each day also. Seeing you with our bairns, watching you practice your healing arts, talking with Jenny about everything, rocking our nieces and nephews, all make me love you more. Then there is the time it is just us. Becoming one. Those are the times that I feel like I will explode with the joy of loving you. The times,” he lowers his voice so only she and Lamb can hear, “that I am so happy that time brought you to me.”
“I feel the same. There is no place I want to be outside here, with you and our family.” She slips her hand into his free one and they sit and watch their daughter play, Mrs. Crook hang laundry, the chickens and goats compete to make the most noise, from behind them, Jenny sings softly to Michael and Janet. Ian is seen in the far field with Murtagh. Their whole life surrounding them. Home found.
