Pretty much homeless.

I'm basically homeless and don't want to go back to an abusive home, and I need a place to stay for a little while. I can try to help with groceries or whatever you need, but I don't have much money. I have two cats, they are my everything. I'm 19 years old. I'm looking for somewhere to stay in the Ohio area but will totally go to another state if I can. I don't even have a bed right now (it was stolen from me by the woman I used to live with).

GALTx eNews: Better Off Ted?

Yes, Ted is better off with GALT than he was with his prior owner who turned him into Amarillo-Panhandle Humane Society (APHS) to be euthanized after Ted was hit by a car. Ted had several fractures in his right rear hock and road rash   with tissue damage on his front right leg. APHS called GALT as Ted's injuries seemed survivable. From the looks of Ted's older scars, this wasn't the first time he encountered a hard way of life.  

On February 9, 2016, Dr. Tom McNicholas of Dallas Veterinary Surgery Center performed surgery on Ted's broken leg to install a stabilizing plate with two screws. Ted had his bandages changed weekly and rested quietly until March 30, 2016, when x-rays revealed his fracture had healed well. During his recovery, Ted had a couple of seizures, which initially responded well to daily medications.  After several months, however, Ted's seizures returned. He will likely need two seizure medications for the rest of his life and may continue to have intermittent seizures.

Ted is now seven years old. When he first came in, he was shut down and disengaged. Gradually, with lots of TLC, he blossomed and now loves affection and attention. He is not a big tail wager and is quite calm. Ted just takes life as it comes, not caring about disruptions like thunderstorms. He saunters on his walks taking in all the sights with no need to get anywhere quickly. He gets along fine with other greyhounds, but is not cat tolerant at this time.

Ted is also more of a watch-dog than some greyhounds, barking when someone comes to the door and when his foster family returns home. Ted enjoys the safety of his crate when his foster parents are away and at night just in case he has a seizure. Ted's seizure medications tend to increase his thirst, so he will do best best in a home where he can have a potty break during the day. Meal and treat times are his favorite!
