Elena turned to Caroline, surprised at how she suddenly became a messenger to Damon. As she was about to protest, she shut her mouth quickly knowing that this was a perfect opportunity for Caroline and Stefan to talk, and get back to being friends. She gave the both of them a smile before walking towards Damon's direction. "Damon," she said coldly.
Damon: smirked, before seeing Elena walk up to him. "Good to see you again," he said with a smile as he kissed her cheek, before looking back at her. "Having fun?"
Elena stiffened, her face remaining neutral. "I was," she said as her lips pursed. "Why'd you send Caroline over to talk to Stefan? I know you'd rather see them be mad at each other than be friends again."
Damon: "Because I'm not an idiot," he said, looking back at her again. "I know that he cares about her, and I'm not always the bad guy. Just most of the time," he said with a smirk, before looking back at her.
Elena gave him a small smile, knowing that what he said was probably true. "Well, I'm not going to wait around here forever..and now that my date is gone, I think I'll be heading home."
Damon: looked back at her, before back on the dancefloor. "I can take you, if you'd like. I wouldn't want you to walk," he said, looking back at her again. "Only if you'd like, its up to you."
Elena looked at him, and shrugged. "It's okay, I have the car." She pulled out her clutch, searching around for the keys, before withdrawing them and showing him. "Hey..uh.." she paused before speaking again. "What do you think they're talking about?" She asked him, knowing he could cheat if he wanted to with his vampire powers.
Damon: looked back at Elena, almost disappointed, but he nodded once at her. "That's probably best," he said, looking back at her. He froze at her comment, before looking back at her. "I'm not too sure, really. Even if I wanted to know, there's a good chance I couldn't. Ask me again tomorow, Elena, and maybe I'll know," he said honestly, although he had some sort of idea. "Elena," he said once more. "For once, I don't think Stefan's talking about you."
Elena nodded, "right, tomorrow." It felt like tomorrow was a million years away, especially now that Elena was itching to know what Stefan and Caroline were talking about. "You're willing to help me by letting me know of these things..why don't you let people see the good in you? Why do they only see the bad?" She asked him, sympathy in her voice.
Damon: looked back at her, trying to find the best answer. "When people see good, they expect it, Elena. I'm not a good person, and I don't want to get anyones hopes up. Especially yours," he said quietly, trying to keep his voice calm, and not shaky. For once, he wasn't confident about anything. He was.. vunerable.
Elena looked at him, and cocked her head to the side, a sad smile on her face. Maybe he was right, maybe they did expect good. "I don't think that's true." She said looking down, before looking back up at him. "I think you're a good person, you just have...your own way of showing it." She said with the tiniest of shrugs. Stepping closer to him, she realized that she might be seeing a vulnerable side to Damon, a side no one else has really seen. Wrapping her arms around him, she gave him a hug. She was still mad at him, but somehow now, she felt a bit sorry for him.
