I made an InDesign spread displaying information about the flour brand Homepride. I am trying to practice and build my confidence in using InDesign to ensure my final design for my flour packaging is the best it can be. I need to perfect exporting to the highest quality and I also think I need to work on my layouts and the hierarchy of certain words and texts, as well as fonts and sizes. I used photoshop to edit the flour images so that I could create my own image of all three types together for my information page.

Homepride Flour

Here is another example of the consistency of Homeprides advertisement techniques, still in 1977 using Fred to promote the slogan “Graded grains make finer flour”, despite technology progressing, they stick to the style of animation as they know its a distinctive feature of Homepride’s Fred.  We distinguish from these advertisements that “ordinary flour” just won't do the job better than Homepride’s flour.

Homepride Flour

This is a video compilation of Homepride Flour advertisements from 1965-1968 in which they emphasise the smoothness of Homepride Flour in comparison to ‘ordinary flour’. Each video consistently features the original mascot Fred speaking to the his audience about how fine and smooth Homepride Flour is and that there is no need to sieve it because “graded grains make finer flour”. In one of the clips another character asks Fred “did you ever use any other flour but Homeprid?”, Fred replies “yes once, but it gave me a shocking headache”.  Being such a long-standing flour company, Fred becomes a recognisable character who people love. A sense of longevity in advertising can increase someones dedication to buying a product because they can associate it with things like nostalgia and memories throughout life.
