The Homeworld of the Crystal Gems is both everything Zelda expected it to be and nothing like she could have dreamed it was. Not that she’d seen much of it, to be honest, not being allowed to wander very far from Steven’s bubble of protection.

The worst part was that it meant no privacy for her and Pearl, and any kind of affection she tried to show the gem was met with looks of judgement from the Diamonds when they were around to witness it.

Not that they got a chance to be together at all, very often, not when Pearl was with Steven more often than not. Not something that Zelda blamed her for at all, she was worried for the boy as well.

Steven was where Pearl was right now, as a matter of fact. Up his bedroom with Connie and Garnet while Zelda wandered alone around the tower and Amethyst did... whatever it was she’d gone off to do.
