I'm a lesbian but I've been with guys before. I've only developed romantic, emotional, sexual relationships with women but only sexual relationships with men. A girl I wanted to go out with says that means I'm bi but I consider myself a lesbian.(1)
I haven’t been with a man in 5 yrs and even though I am open to having sex with men I have never loved or been in a relationship with one, should I be calling my self bi? (2)
Hi there, sorry for the late reply!
You could identify with homoflexibility. It is related to bisexuality, but it’s different. What it means is someone who is attracted primarily to members of the same sex, but occasionally attracted to members of the opposite sex AND/OR able to derive pleasure from romantic encounters with members of the opposite sex.
Most often, people who may be homoflexible, identify as gay or lesbian, despite occasional relations with members of the opposite sex.
But then again, if you only experience sexual attraction with men (not romantically), it could mean something else. You could identify with homoromantic bisexual, meaning you’re sexually attracted to both genders but only romantically to the same gender.
P.S: At the end of the day you can identify however you like even if you haven’t had much experience with anyone, even putting gender aside. You are allowed to think about it over and over again, you are allowed to be confused, and you are allowed to date anyone of your choice.
