A face only a Homopteran could love (note, the existence or non-existence of Homoptera as a taxonomic "thing" is contested,  Unlike most of the rest of the world I know little of the details, but there is a notion by some that they (Homopterans) may not actually be an insect order but only a suborder (this would like be being demoted from an earl to a viscount, again, something I have to say I have never experienced, but must be traumatic)).  Againishly, we have Magicicada cassinii, face view, a bit off somehow don't you think?... as if put together from left over parts from other insects.  Also, what is going on with that proboscis?  I thought the adults didn't feed?  If you don't feed then it appears to me that you don't need to bother with a proboscis.   Tech Anders Croft took this picture.

A series of shots of Citrus Psyllid adults (including a recently emerged white adult) , and larvae of Diaphorina citri which is the transporting agent of citrus greening disease now devastating Florida's orange groves.  Pictures taken at  Level 3 level quarantine at USDA's Lab at Ft. Detrick, Maryland.  Thanks to Tina Paul for fascilitating all of this.  One of the larval pictures just made it into the Nat Geographic Magazine.  Those are acupuncture pin the psyllid is taken on...tiny beasts.

Mostly it's bad cause cats kill absurd amounts of birds. Like... scientifically linked to songbird declines?? Cats are invasive predators??

but like wouldn’t a better solution be supervised time outside rather than not letting cats out at all? also that kind of thing depends on geographic area as well as the time of year

lady bugs are great but obv will result in aphid death. This is a tough question since aphid colonies don't often move as a whole?

Lady bugs will control aphids naturally, so maybe you can set up a lady bug habitat in your garden?

I'm certainly all for promoting more insect life in general, and we're trying to do so, so perhaps lady bugs will join us sometime. I don't think that it'd be any quicker than other options though, so I think I may as well just try to grow some more indoors and give up on the outdoors parsley until another time. Thanks for the replies :)

i don't know about where you live, but absolutely elsewhere. In PA there are a lot in heavily forested areas :)

oh, good. yeah where i live any houses on farms or in the woods are colonial or new-ish (past 20 yrs)
