the raveonettes, who i am on the record as sometimes enjoying (where are you wild horses is one of my favourites) have done a really boring lacklustre cover of the shangri las’ transcendent girl group goth pop masterpiece the leader of the pack. it’s not the first awful cover of it… made by people who maybe think they can elevate it or make it weirder or more goth. like, you can’t. a group of 1960s working class teenage girls singing their goth melodramas will remain more punk and interesting than any attempts to outdo them
