And I feel like the culture of HK is more modern. Although, they speak Contonese which is frustrating.

There are many languages in HK, Firstly it was Cantonese; which is my first language. Mandarin is creeping in and then there are the village language, there are so many I only know of one which is called "Hak-ga" as my Father side of the family all speak it. It's mad knowing how many languages there are in such a small area.
