Fingers clamp down around his pulse and audio starts to fade into nothingness, oxygen not being able to get to his brain in such a way that it nullifies any response he should have to Jim Gordon’s closeness -- rationality states that he’s dangerous, unpredictable, and there isn’t a soul on the force that would believe any of what he plans to testify.
His breath does catch like the older man wants it to, the implications of a threat cutting through the monochrome ringing in his ears, followed by a whisper, hot and heavy right against him,
“Tell me, Jerome, what do you want?”
The youth’s own hand holds on with a slowly declining amount of strength behind it, crescent fingernail marks etching themselves into the other man’s forearm, “To see you behind bars.” he grits out, thinking of how much damage he could do with his teeth if he weren’t concerned for appearing as though he’s assaulted him outright with no justification..
He won’t -- no, he can’t submit.

Corruption runs rampant in Gotham like a disease; it has this way of slipping through the cracks like the misunderstood youth that will inevitably end up jaded, jailed, and drugged, turning good men into pawns and knights into slaves of servitude. One of the only lights at the end of the tunnel that could be seen in his bleak world had been the police force, this is what gets him out of bed in the morning, lets him have a sense of purpose. This is why he can see it: the insincerity in his tone, how his eyes are hollow and dart around the room like he’s got something to hide, how he’s just like the rest of the garbage that they’ve sworn to clean off of the streets. It hadn’t been clear at first, evidence coming out of lockers and not being accounted for by any particular badge number, rhyme or reason, only to be disposed of completely.
Unsteady hands clasp around a firearm -- just as he’s been taught, index finger rested against the trigger guard while the other hand comes around to give it sturdiness -- until he’s been given enough evidence that a crime is being committed to actually pull the trigger, aiming the barrel accurately at a padlock. Screams ring out distinctly through sheet metal and layers of dust, the warehouse only having a dim and dull shine coming from inside, a faint flicker of light. The youth’s heart pumps heavily, delivering the required hormones to the rest of his body, that fight or flight reflex kicking in when he fumbles with the remnants of the lock, throwing the rusted and faded door open with a jerking motion.
“G.C.P.D.! Don’t move!”

❝ —— Ooh... you KILLED him ? Now, that’s a quality I like in a guy. ❞
Jerome’s amusement was OBVIOUS, the glint in his eyes bright as he took in the other man. He loved messing with the other patients, knowing that it was between that and poking at the guards ( and he wasn’t too fond of being thrown in solitary, so he kept to the patients ). He’d take any hit he could get, not even caring if his actions resulted in him having his own bruises to show. Though he was entirely smug on the fact that many people KNEW not to cross him.
❝ So —— why’d you kill him ? ❞

“But you’ve slaughtered for other reasons. What makes yours any more gallant than mine? Murder is murder, Detective Gordon.”
