It wasn't often that she took time out to meet people. Her life was full of practice and then she'd been in the studio writing music. It wasn't until she started reading a book of poetry and with her home full of people, it felt easier for her to leave and read for as long as she needed. A small diner, cute remote and rather busy for it's location became her go to spot. She'd sit through the night reading poetry, classics anything to try and get the notes out of her mind. She needed a break or the sympany piece would never stand up to the masters that she studied constantly.
Her fingers felt like they were swollen and as the familiar waitress walked over, Kara forced herself to smile and start talking. "Wow Audrey did you dye your hair, it looks amazing. The other woman started talking about her appointment when Kara finally caught sight of the other reason she loved coming in the diner late at night. She knew he worked here but it seemed that he was coming in with a few friends. It had taken her weeks just to learn his name and had it not been for his assertive but fun nature, she wasn't sure she'd ever known.
Audrey's eyes followed where Kara was looking and she started to laugh. "Girl, you've got it bad. Not that you're the first but you might be the first that he'd talk to beyond the one night of fantastic sex."
Those words caught Kara's attention. "Are you speaking from experience or stories, Audrey."
"honey I don't kiss and tell."
Just as Kara was about to order her regular, the man who'd left his friends came up to the table, with her complicated drink in one had and his own drink in the other. Her eyes widened as he sat down across from her and she picked up her drink, nervous because she'd never really liked anyone.
"It's nice to finally get to meet you Dallas. How did you know exactly how i like my tea?"
