Wait, so white practitioners can’t use honey and jars together? Can’t call it a honey-jar spell? This is not an angry ask, I’m just confused. The way that post is worded sounds like y’all are saying only Afrocentric cultures can use honey in jars for magic..

Thanks for clarifying that you’re genuinely just asking! I really have never actually seen any non-Africana traditional practices that use honey in jars for spells or rituals… tbh I’ve only ever seen modern non-black witches using honey jars when influenced by rootworking practices. 

If there is a magic, witchcraft, cultural, religious, or spiritual tradition that uses honey in jars and that developed totally independent of hoodoo and that tradition and practice is open to you, then of course it’s fine for you practice it as done in that tradition (which would be different from the hoodoo way). If someone had literally never heard of honey jars in hoodoo and randomly decided out of the blue one day to put honey in a jar for a spell, I don’t think that would be appropriative either and it likely would be its own unique thing that is also different from the hoodoo way.

I do think that if you see hoodoo honey jars and you haven’t learned the concept from anywhere else or come up with it completely on your own, then deciding to make something based off of the hoodoo way is appropriative.
