oh, thank god. it wasn’t that jacob disliked his job — quite the opposite, actually, he both enjoyed it and excelled in it. it was just that, coming from a big city, sometimes it got a bit boring. officially, he was hired on as his position in his previous city, a neurosurgeon, but with little happening in the sleepy little borough, he generally found himself consulting on cases that didn’t even relate to his specialty. it had been a long thirteen hours, and though he was tired, he wasn’t nearly exhausted enough to fall asleep, so he pulled his car up to the curb in front of the first bar he found and wandered in, sitting at the bar. “glenlevit, whatever you have, a double on the rocks,” he muttered, tossing a bill across the bar to the bartender. thankfully, not many others were in the bar, so he’d be able to enjoy his drink without someone screaming in his ear.

“I’m sorry, we’ve actually just closed” Ella walked through from the kitchen to the shop as she heard the bell on the front door to the bakery jingle. “But if you have a specific request I’m more than happy to do my best.”
