A Poem for a Friend I Never Met @candiedspit
I knew you in a past life,
Maybe lovers, cousins or brothers,
but sisters definitely.
The lack of chemicals in our brains are the same. Each impulse triggered by the misfiring of neurons with synapses that have too much space in between.
We probably shared a lollipop once or a cigarette, swapping sin with spit,
poetic words with confessionals,
or exchanging Barbie’s for Bratzs,
knowing they were all the same thing.
Or maybe we traded our thoughts about Nina Simone and that truck driver you never wrote about and how it felt to smell fresh tar bubbling
under the weight of a July sun.
But I really think that we were twins,
bearing teeth in the womb
Asking each other
Who will eat who first?
