@honorearned gets a starter from Mai
Mai walked over to where he was sitting. “Hey, do you mind if I join you?” She asked him. She took boundaries very seriously, so she wouldn’t do anything until she knew he was okay with it.

@honorearned / azula & zuko. (starter call)
“𝐒𝐎 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐃𝐎 you think they’ll deem me fit to leave this miserable place?” azula’s legs are crossed in front of her as she surveys the board. she was still TERRIBLE at pai sho and doesn’t remember when zuko got so good at it, which made playing against him all the more frustrating. she hasn’t lit any of the pieces on f i r e yet though, so she considers that it’s own victory. finally, she settles on moving a piece forward, realizing zuko has been watching her this whole time. (making eye contact is D I F F I C U L T; seeing the empathy he has when he shouldn’t). she huffs, looking to the side. “i’m not BEGGING to leave, for the record. they have good food, and music on the weekends.” she’d never admit it obviously. but she does want to come… to whatever h o m e is now.

“𝓛ord Zuko, what do I owe this pleasure?” Opal asked as she stood up immediately once she spotted the former Firelord arriving on Air Temple Island. It wasn’t often that she saw him make an appearance, often choosing retirement and living out the best of his days in his home land. But hopefully it wasn’t an emergency that he came to the big city. The young airbender bowed in respect toward the elder man. “I trust your travels were well?”
“I don’t want to talk to you right now.”
for but a moment does UNCERTAINITY hold tight with claws of steel -- digging into skin , refusing release . yet within that same instance do eyes flash ; alight with the years of 𝙾𝙱𝚂𝙴𝚂𝚂𝙸𝙾𝙽 that had kept her so rapt . azula knew the road to redemption to be a rocky one , hardly thought of herself as one DESERVING -- memories of lightning && chains flash past the front of mind , clouding self-restraint for a beat of a second , before it vanishes beneath carefully carved CONTROL . ‘ why not be HONEST with yourself, zu-zu , ‘ a pause , lift of chin as arms fold l steady gaze of honey hues rest upon form of older brother -- siblings they might be , yet azula would not claim to 𝐊𝐍𝐎𝐖 𝐇𝐄𝐑 𝐁𝐑𝐎𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑 , as she knew he would do the same in regards to herself . heavy sigh flutters locks of midnight where they rest against her cheeks . ‘ you never want to talk to me . ‘

"i love you." ( iroh! )
@honorearned
“I love you too, grandpa.” And he truly did, but his words worried him somewhat. He didn’t need to remind him that he loved him. It was evident in the way he acted every time he came home. “But did something happen? Is everyone okay?
“ we’ll never be those kids again. ”
lips purse tightly over gaping maw ; ivory canines hidden behind crimson , as though the PREDATOR was at rest -- perhaps in this moment , it was . anger did not flow through bones crafted from war , did not linger within blood laced with aggression -- for now , she was gentle , with a million thoughts rushing through her mind , nothing able to be sculpted into cohesive patterns , && so she simply remains silent , watching her brother . gone was CHILDHOOD , shoved aside when it had truly not started ; azula nothing more than a product of what her father had made her , could she truly be BLAMED for all the things she did not turn out to be ? 𝘼 𝙋𝙍𝙊𝘿𝙄𝙂𝙔 who had bene bound in chains , wailing out her frustrations && screaming to the skies / it feels like a lifetime ago , belonging to another , && not to she who stood so bold before he who had faced her with no FEAR within his gaze . ( 𝚂𝙷𝙴'𝚂 𝚂𝙻𝙸𝙿𝙿𝙸𝙽𝙶 ! ) && slip she had , unrecognizable if not for the flames of azure that had bloomed within her palm , nor the lightning that sparked about slender frame . but that was a different time / 𝖉𝖎𝖋𝖋𝖊𝖗𝖊𝖓𝖙 𝖙𝖎𝖒𝖊 , 𝖉𝖎𝖋𝖋𝖊𝖗𝖊𝖓𝖙 𝖊𝖒𝖕𝖎𝖗𝖊 , 𝖘𝖆𝖒𝖊 𝖌𝖗𝖆𝖛𝖊𝖞𝖆𝖗𝖉 . teeth grind together behind expression of impassiveness , however fake it may be , but she will not let him see her falter , will not be anything LESS than the princess ozai had crafted her into .
‘ would you truly WANT to be that child again , zu-zu ? ‘ lift of her chin , a glint within hues of gold , && she lifts a hand to tuck dark locks behind her ear , a frown gracing sharp features . ‘ uncertain , beaten , WEAK ? ‘ was she referring to him , or were those words wound tightly to her own frame ? a shake of her head , && azula drops a hand onto her hip , gauging -- watching ... waiting . all she had now was time / left alone to her thoughts , to the wreckage of her mind , && the memories of what once was , never to be held again . she did not weep for her actions , for that singular loss of control that had cost her all -- but she would not have won once her father had fallen , that same fate would have befallen her -- locked away , her bending taken ... the very thought causes a shudder to rush up her spine . ‘ you seem to be doing FINE . ‘
"i could never hate you. ever." ( izumI! )
@honorearned
“You promise?” Her hands were folded nervously in front of her as she stared up at her father. “Not even if I did something bad? Not even if I went against you and what you wanted?” The teenager had done something that she now regretted. She wasn’t supposed to meet Ozai, let alone talk to him. Yet she had snuck out a few nights ago, and went to his cell. Despite warning not to, she had wanted to see the man behind the stories. The man who had done so many terrible things in such a short period of time. The man that had burned her father. Now she was just filled with guilt and fear. Guilt from what she had done, and fear of the man still stuck behind bars.

He was frowning.
No, not at Zuko’s statement, he really didn’t care how Zuko did or didn’t feel, he was frowning at the pitiful excuse of a stew in front of him.
It wasn’t like cooking was at the top of the list of things for him to learn.
He jabbed at the fish with the wooden spoon, a low sizzling noise being made as the burnt skin was pried off the bowl; carrots and potatoes scattering about.
Oh...he forgot to put in water.
The smell was rather aghast, but something told him that Zuko wasn’t talking about that.
“Kindly have the decency to explode outside.”
