Thank you to @annupton.art for choosing our sparkle to always add the finishing touches to her top coat 🙏🙏🙏🙏 #just4youonlineuk #honouredandhumbled ・・・ So, I’m no stranger to large projects and resin, but even I made mistakes and had some learning on this one. ✨ Start to finish layer 1 on this very large solid wood coffee table. As you can see I’m working in the middle of my living room, on the carpet. No I’m not crazy, I just am not strong enough to lift it, and this room had the best nighttime lightning and ventilation. So I taped the sides and covered my floor in plastic and started work ✨ I’m sure you can see halfway through I didn’t like the look of the sand, so I scraped it all off and started the bottom again with just resin. This was almost an hour in, and my resin was very tacky and had started to cure-not ideal. Also, I spilled my denatured alcohol on the tarp and spent the rest of the time trying to not step on resin/alcohol and track it on the carpet. ✨ As for tips for this project. Full face respirator because I wasn’t in my studio with my separate vent. Windows and doors open during mixing/torching, extra portable air purifier. Turned a/c off, so it limited dust in the air, kids asleep, dog outside. Plastic cups for ease of clean up—couldn’t have my usual glass drip on my carpet. Next time I’ll mix extra resin so I’m not running up and down the stairs, and I’ll have my clean up stuff nearby. I did this at 7pm, so my kids had a whole 12 hours in their room(doors closed), and I kept the central A/C off all night so resin vapors didn’t circulate the whole home. They also all have air purifiers in their room. If you work in a common area these might be some good tips for you! ✨ I’ll be doing another layer tonight after they go to bed, and a third tomorrow-and this project will use over 2 gallons of resin! ✨ Resin @counterculturediy.
