Between ourselves we called him Coconut Bob. We never learned his name, but CB had staked out the same spot at the overlook parking lot of Hoʻokipa Beach Park down the road from Paʻia. He was just there handing out free coconuts for people to drink and making straws. When you finished the refreshing drink heʻd whack it in half then make you a spoon to to eat the flesh. Yeah, he took donations and would spread his surfing inspired philoshophy.
