Had a blast taking Baxter’s 3 day hoop class. #happyhooping #hooppath #baxter
I’m not as tired today
I went to my first ever hooping related workshop this weekend. Baxter added a couple of Atlanta dates and I made sure to get tickets.
Sadly, Michelle could not go both days. Saturday I was on my own but today we carpooled. I told her I didn’t want to get in detail about yesterday because I wanted her to experience it first hand. So here, I won’t go into the meat of class detail just in case.
Saturday was very athletic. There was movement without the hoop, a fair amount of core hooping, some shoulder hooping, and tosses. It was also a larger crowd of people.
Baxter is a wonderful story teller / sharer. Very insightful and thought provoking. I”m still working through a lot of the thoughts sparked and I’m BEAT but I want to get some of this down before I forget or it fades.
The energy on both days was very good. I’ve never been in a space with so many folks that loved hooping.
I felt like I was in a space where the things being talked about clicked with me. On Saturday coming in, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about what the day held. I didn’t have any expectation on either side. I felt open about it. The encouragement of movement felt natural. Sometimes in hoop class I don’t want to feel like I’m being show off-y because so many of those ladies have hesitation about movement. To be in a room where most everyone was moving was cathartic.
The core hooping was much needed for me. I’m so much weaker there because of surgery from earlier in the year. I’ve been wondering how much the incisions made affected my core muscles, even though they were small. Luckily, though I was sore in the space where my right ovary was, it wasn’t something that I woke up with today. And I don’t feel it now. Also, I unlocked some different movement in shoulder hooping on Saturday.
Today was athletic but more chill. The crowd was also smaller. We did some more core hooping that was such a beautiful experience. We also worked on off body movement using HoopPath techniques. I particularly loved not gripping the hoop and I could feel that I understood tossing better.
It all went by very quickly. I’m so glad I got to do this.
I’m feeling very full of positive energy right now. My heart feels full. I feel so excited about incorporating what I’ve learned into my hoop practice
