Every Friday night, for the last couple of months, my small town shuts down my street to all East-West traffic, from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm, nicely bisecting the downtown. The idea being that local businesses can put out extra outdoor seating, and get enough business to stay open. It is sparsely attended. And only two, three places participate, along a six-block stretch, meaning that every Friday night for the last couple months, I come home and sit at my western window, observing a single folding table, surrounded by patio furniture, in a totally empty, blocked-off street that stretches into the horizon. There is always a taped-down white tablecloth, hanging in the humidity or snapping it’s fringe in the wind. And the sun takes its time setting, and lines up perfectly with the street, casting an elongating shadow of folding table legs further and further down the dead silent boulevard. It is ominous as fuck.

Hoosac Tunnel
I don’t even have any followers and I only started a Tumblr account to look at snake pictures and occasionally comment. :) But I’m in serious need of cute animals tonight and I know others are too, so here’s my contribution.
Updated photo of Hoosac’s new digs. This weekend I added the two real plants (there’s one a bit to the right of center that’s hard to see behind the Fluker vine). Eventually the medium-height platform will have a pothos and/or spider plant in it, but they’re still in the process of being sprouted and Hoosac has had enough upheaval for the moment. Other details: My better half added a dimmer to the moon thing in the upper left. Also in the upper left you can see the growing tip of a pothos vine that is being grown from a container outside the cage, with just the vine poking in. At the moment it seems that it’s not getting enough light to grow very much, but hopefully eventually it will grow long enough to get some.
