‘Now go to sleep sweetie or he won’t come and give you that doll you asked for.’ Mommy said to me. Full of excitement I rushed to my bedroom and got comfy under my covers. Patiently waiting for mommy and daddy to kiss me goodnight. ‘Don’t forget cuddle bunny.’ Daddy said while handing me my favourite toy. Mommy and daddy kissed me on the forehead and wished me goodnight as I fell asleep clutching cuddle bunny.

I awoke to a loud thud. A cold chill ran down my spine. I saw lights shining through the little crack in my door. ‘Could it be?’ I wondered. I swiftly jumped out of bed to open the door. As I opened it I saw a large figure towering over my mommy and daddy. ‘You guys are getting your presents first? That’s not fa-‘ I froze as I saw the terrified and tear filled eyes of my parents looking back at me. The large figure turned it’s focus towards me and slowly took a step in my direction. Clutching cuddle bunny I whispered with a shaken voice ‘I- I- I don’t get it, I’ve been a good girl this year.’ The piercing blue eyes of the giant man stared deep into my soul. ‘Indeed you have, little girl’ The man said ‘That’s why I’ll take you first.’ He smiled at me with eyes full of wonder as he grabbed two swords from his back ‘Oh my what beautiful eyes you have. I wonder what beautiful doll I can make of you.’

A tear rolled down her cheek. ‘What a beautiful sight’ she thought looking up at the sky. This was the first time she’d been outside since that man had taken her. She had albinism which gave her red eyes and white hair. He thought her eyes were beautiful and wanted them for himself. Even though she had a rough life she felt blessed to be able to see aurora borealis on her last night on this earth. ‘Don’t worry my dear he won’t be able to hurt you anymore’ She said as she opened her hand to reveal a baby tooth. She clutched it tightly and smiled ‘Only happy memories from now on I promise.’ She felt life draining from her body as the lights reflected in her hair she saw beautiful birds flying in the sky. In her final breaths she pleaded to the man in the moon ‘Please whatever comes next, just let me be free.’
