So there's this blog ldevstuff who declares every equestrian should be crippled for life because we are animal abusers. ldevstuff uses the same 3 "scientific studies" to make her point. I want to address some of the points in the studies. theriderdiaries touched on the subject of "abuse" earlier but here's some more points: 1) If our horses truly didn't enjoy what they were doing, there is no way in Hell that we could keep them from killing us or getting us off in 2 seconds flat. 2) They are 1000-1600lbs animals. They have control of the whole situation. We can't force them to do anything. If they don't want to do it, they aren't going to. 3) Everyone knows that we love our horses. We treat them as our children. But what people don't realize, is that they love us too. When I walk in the barn every morning at 5am to start grooming and tacking up and mucking stalls, the horses ears perk up, they nicker, they stick their heads out to greet me. They aren't terrified or in pain. They aren't quivering in the back of their stalls with fear. 5) There are lots of people who say that we have no proof that they enjoy working..but that's a bit hypocritical as there's no proof that they don't. tl;dr - non equestrians don't understand how things work and who's actually at the top of the ladder in a horse/rider situation and people need to mind their own business when they know dickity squat.

The perpetrators call themselves The Real Deal, and they hire these poor horses out for trail rides. Imagine letting your kid on a horse treated like this. Let's do what we can to shut these assholes down.
