reasons why diluc wears that coat:

he’s pyro and more resistant to heat - can wear it in summer

big n comfy n heavy,,, good sensory feel (implied he might have sensory issues in one of his voicelines)

nice thick fabric, enough that his falcon can land on him without it hurting

i am thinking Very Hard about how both dilucs message at the cat tails and monas "about diluc" line describe him yearning for dawn, the warmth of the past and his friends and family, yet knowing that he has to turn away from it, facing the darkness before dawn alone for the sake of others like... the constant self-isolation To Protect Others esp bcs he himself says he's torn by it !!

on a semi related diluc note i rarely see people capture, or even acknowledge dilucs chaotic energy in both actions and words and its a shame bcs hes literally the funniest character in the game

so heres a reminder that diluc has:

said he'd prefer to be crushed by a meteorite if he had to choose between eating a cryo slime alive or join the fatui

made slime bait and literally thought "i wonder how much trouble i can cause w/ this"

proceeded to cause trouble by getting the traveller to dump it outside the city gates

then said the knights were better off as slime exterminators after cleaning the mess he made

arrested by the fatui in the manhua (in his darknight hero disguise)

banned from snezhnaya

has bought over 2000 fake artifacts just to fuck with the fatui

had punched hilichurls and the first time we see him is when he grabs an abyss mage by the face and yeets them

went around for three years destroying the fatui bases, then immediately joined an underground network

somehow made himself a big enough target for the abyss order to rally around

not chaotic but funny - random cameo at the end of ventis story quest when venti is doing his whole divine intervention thing, implied he just stands there and watches it all go down

downed a load of fire-water in front of snezhnayan diplomats, got incredibly drunk but managed to get through the whole party and then passed out for three days
