A Bridge to the Starry Skies was actually really funny. I’m so happy I finally found a subbed show I liked, for once.

Hoshizora e Kakaru Hashi is Stupid

That's right. I called it stupid. Calling things stupid is stupid, but I'm calling this stupid anyways. Here's why:

Generic promised girl flashback (cold open even!)

Trite dialog/stating the obvious ("oh yes you woke up", "wow yeah i did lol")

Effeminate brother for your little brother/shota/incest fetish

Opening sequence: Ah, as if we weren't convinced this was based on a bishoujo game already. If order of appearance in the opening means anything, apparently said brother is the third most important member of the harem. Well maybe that would be fourth since the "first girl" is the last one shown.

Effeminate brother has weak constituation, who would have guessed?!

No parents for stupid reasons

Yeah, so this looks like one huge excuse for having a cute girl exposé potentially infused with dry comedy and predictable harem drama. However, just calling shit stupid is totally unproductive, so I'll list the good points of the show:

Character art quality is great. Hopefully they can keep it up.

Backgrounds are decent for a countryside setting.

There is potential for there being "that one girl" that makes a mediocre show worth enduring. Gathering from the opening, only a few girls have been introduced and those haven't been fleshed out at all.

The other feng game-turned-anime AkaSaka went with the unexpected end pairing with pseudo-incest. Perhaps we will get another one.

Episode preview was jokingly emphasizing brotherly love. At least they recognize what they are. This may not be so terrible if they don't take themselves too seriously.

I was rather pleased with recent game to anime adaptations for Amagami and Yosuga no Sora. Granted, those were done in omnibus format which this doesn't appear to be doing, but just the overall quality increase may mean Japan is getting better at this.

Dogakobo did the Koihime Musou adaptation, which is more reason for hope. While obviously not the best show ever, I enjoyed Koihime Musou because it didn't try to do too much and was just fun.

Monkey butt.

In reality, we didn't learn much about this show other than it's setting up to be rather generic. There's still hope things can become interesting or entertaining, but I don't expect many people to watch past the first episode, let alone even give it a chance. In what is shaping up to be a season with a large quantity of quality this show may be swept under the rug, forgotten by all but the most ardent of fans.
