It wasnt real interest that pique him when it came to hearing his enemy's be found dead or murders. Surely it made him laugh or just cackle mockery that he gave. He was never acquainted with the the princes companion. What was her name..? This definitely wasn’t the worst Kimbley had ever done. Around him, the men had been haphazardly stacked, the one in his still-curled fist dangling limp by his shirt collar---but the life within these low brow, weaklings of adversaries had not been entirely purged. The point had simply been to disable them---to teach them a lesson, for even considering stiffing him on their previous negotiations.

That’s what happened when folks dared cross Zolf J. Kimbley.

His glance toward the source of the intrusive voice was subtle, unconcerned, as though he wasn’t surrounded by bruised and bloodied bodies, his voice equally calm as he spoke:

Much to his embarrassment. Still, it wasn’t to he -- or his night time activities -- the other was referring, was it? No rather to the one who stood centre stage. The one most commonly known as The Traveller.

“A hero to some is a villain to others,” he stated with a shrug. Of course, there may have been some truth to the other’s words. They had certainly done somethings that could quite simply be regarded as heroic. Even he was impressed. “Yet whether they are or not, they are simply what the masses need right now, are they not?”

He’d sensed a presence at his back for quite some time---shifting through the shadows, dodging any of his wayward glances. But he’d not felt it intensely necessary to address the situation, instead choosing to peruse this world at his leisure, as a figure also weaving to and fro through the crevasses of Darkness. Likely just some stalker, after all---he tended to attract those in abundance---and only would he bother if he felt there was an imminent threat to his thus far pleasant afternoon.

But when his little shadow-friend decided at last to speak to him, he could not help but offer an exaggerated scoff---emerging from his cozy corner within the alcove to turn toward the source of the voice with a flourish, robes cascading with the movement.

“Perhaps the same should be said of you---for I know well you’ve been traipsing after me for quite some time,” then, the touch of a curved nail to his cheek thoughtfully, “so mayhaps you should be quick about stating your business, lest I become even less quiet than I am now.”

Additional notes: So I could see this going multiple ways, depending on the situation tbh. It would be easy to see Lan Fan become a good influence---teach Kuja about the importance of ~friendship and all that and so on---but I could also see it going the opposite way, where Kuja’s more cynical habits start rubbing off. But if the former happens? Could definitely see a found family type situation cropping up. Kuja isn’t accustomed to the concept of a proper familial relationship, so him getting to have a sassy lil sis to show her the ropes?? That’s some good kush right there. But, of course, again, it could always turn hostile, if all the circumstances turn sour.
