i know we got a canon grand sage now but seeing as how it took hyv 4 years to get to that point (Final sumeru AQ (Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises) released in 2022) I am electing to ignore it just like everything else genshin gives out lately ♡

In the end when the Angels were forced to give up their power or their minds- Samael ended up sacrificing his immortality, using that to keep his body and power before ending up in the Abyss where he regained what he had lost.

Michael however sacrificed his Freedom- the last angel under Phanes's control but he did this in order for Haniel to still have her own freedom and retain her body, barring him to act upon Phanes's will whenever asked.
