please I am begging to hear your directors cut on the reasoning behind Sam wanting Shiro to de-age on purpose and Shiro’s reactions to how different things felt while young and small and also how you came up with all that at all
I mean, Sam’s reason is a lot what Shiro called him out on - he wanted to see it for himself, because the footage he saw was adorable.
But also, a huge part of Shiro’s problem in Spectrum Verse is the constant need to present himself a certain way: completely infallible. He accepts no mistakes from himself, and believes that any time he fails to be the perfect Black Paladin, he’s showing that he’s really broken and messed up.
But being a kid is the opposite of that. Kids are expected to mess up, expected to act out, expected to need help: all the things Shiro can’t allow himself.
So, yes, part of Sam’s reasoning is selfish, because he sees Shiro as his kid and he wants to get to see him smol. (Especially when he knows actual Smol Shiro had a time of it, and he wants to treat Smol Shiro right). But also, it happens ot neatly tie in with Shiro’s issues, and would be an interesting avenue to explore what Shiro’s afraid of in a gentle way.
For Shiro’s perspective, at the end of the series he sees the value in the idea. But for the most part, he’s not comfortable with it - half out of his issues, half because he’s naturally a pretty private guy. Kid emotions are Big, and it completely wrests away the control he clings to so desperately. Shiro doesn’t know what to do with himself when he doesn’t have responsibility for everything around him. Just be a little kid and play games and hang out? Sounds fake, he’s busy. Also, he can’t control these swells of emotions and that’s terrifying, because that means everyone can see it???
Basically, it’s not something Shiro enjoys. But the benefits (a fun afternoon despite himself, lots of physical affection because he’s smol and cute and they can, unable to supress the stuff he normally keeps locked up) are actually pretty damn good for him.
How I came up with it is nothing to complex, lol. I wanted a deaged fic where he kept his mind, because I love those. Then I thought about how it would affect Shiro and how it would be the opposite of what he wanted. Then, when Sam was around, I thought about what Coran would catch him up on, and ‘I have little kid footage of Shiro’ is one of the first non-work things he’d share. And I thought Sam would love it and want to see it himself, but he’d also find it intriguing that Shiro couldn’t help showing emotion, and there we are.
Thank you for asking! it’s nice to go in on an older one

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ anything that's on your mind or if u want a prompt, anything to do w Dark Necessities?? 👀👀
Oooh, Dark Necessities is still one of my favorite concepts. I think in practice, I could have done more to set up the geography of the battleground and all the cliffs. I had a very specific idea in mind, and I’m not sure how well it came across.
The original idea came from a fic exchange with @velkynkarma. She was looking for a fic that examines how cutthroat Shiro can be for the sake of the mission, which we see in the first episode when he was willing to let any prisoners on Sendak’s ship die if it meant retrieving Voltron until Pidge revealed her relationship to the Holts. It’s a really interesting bit of characterization that never really manifested in the rest of the series.
(Fun fact, my return offer was for a Shiro sick fic - which she was working on. Then I asked for the rest of the team finding out more about the arena - which was the same fic she was working on. Then I asked for Shiro pushed to the edge to defend the team - also the fic she was working on. That turned out to be Parasite Knight, which is still one of my favs in the whole fandom).
The original idea I had was for Shiro to let a planet/culture get attacked for the sake of protecting one of the other paladins. But in the end, I decided that wasn’t enough of a dilemma - the right answer, defend one of the few paladins of Voltron, is the one Shiro would want. Also, it wouldn’t resonate with the audience, because they would also want to defend one of the other paladins over unnamed groups of NPCs.
So instead, I made it harder on the paladins: They had to be helpless and let atrocities happen. Especially for Shiro, who basically pointed the Galra to the main town to protect his own hide, a much harder task for him, and he had to use his authority to enforce something he doesn’t want either.
The wrap up I didn’t have planned, especially Keith. There needed to be consequences that mattered to both Shiro and the audience: it affects Shiro to see the broken down, but to an audience member, it’s sad but expected. To have the paladin’s relationship damaged hits harder, since that’s been built up for the series. So I wanted to explore how Shiro’s actions shook that up, and how they handed it.
All in all, it was a lot of fun to dig into that part of Shiro, and to just follow the shockwaves and see where they go. It was a great prompt.

Summary:
How about Sheith and #4, immediately post season 6? :D
We slept in the same bed for space reasons but now we’re just waking up and there’s something about your bleary eyes and mussed hair
Keith fights against the urge to curl into a tight ball on his cot. He’s usually one to flop out over the bed, dead to the world as soon as his head hit the pillow. But he just can’t manage to get comfortable.
The Black Lion, still on low-power mode, just doesn’t have the same environmental controls that the Castle of Lions had. Even in the paladin pajamas, Keith is just a touch too cold to properly relax. He keeps resisting the urge to scramble against the bed, as if shoving himself further against the cot will somehow manage to warm him. If he’d thought about it, Keith would have brought a better blanket, but he’d only grabbed the thin one from his bed.
But there’s another reason Keith can’t relax. The same reason he can’t curl up or move around too much.
That reason sleeps next to him, unmoving since he was revived.
Shiro lays on his back, exactly where Keith put him once he lapsed back into unconsciousness. He and Keith are as far apart as they can be on the same small cot, despite the temptation of the warmth he puts off.
After all he’s been through, Shiro needs his rest. Keith is loathe to wake him up early. Especially not when it might startle him and send him into a flashback.
So instead, Keith gives up on sleep for now. Maybe that’s stupid. They don’t know what tomorrow will bring in the black void between their current location and Earth. But Keith suspects it’ll be like yesterday and the day before.
A whole lot of nothing.
So Keith pushes himself up, resisting a shiver as he’s re-exposed to the cool air. He leans heavily on one elbow, and instead lets himself just look.
Shiro looks so young.
Maybe it’s the single-colored hair again, or maybe it’s just because he’s relaxed in his sleep. But there’s a vulnerability there that Keith has only gotten brief glances into. Shiro’s lips are gently parted, his hair pushed to awkward angles against the pillow. The remaining hand curls under his jaw, tucked in as if for warmth, or maybe just for something to hold.
Vaguely, Keith remembers Shiro once mentioning he tended to cling in his sleep. Or maybe Adam had said it, probably to tease Shiro. Either way, that habit is probably long dead.
A wistful nostalgia claws at Keith’s chest. He never got to see it, and now he probably never will. It’s not fair that Shiro had to break something so honest, so precious. Keith would give up so much to return that to Shiro.
He also wouldn’t mind being the one Shiro clung to in his sleep. It would be nice to feel like Shiro’s as desperate for Keith as Keith is for him.
Shiro twitches suddenly. His brows come together thoughtfully, and his fingers twitch under his chin. Then, slowly, his eyes crack open and immediately lock onto Keith.
Shit. After all that, Keith had still managed to wake him just by watching him too intensely. That’d teach him to stare.
“Hey,” Keith said, his own voice rough and quiet from the late hour. “Just checking on you before bed. You can go back to sleep.”
Shiro blinks slowly, then shifts. At first, his right shoulder moves fruitlessly. Eventually he remembers what he’s missing, and he uses his left arm instead. “What time is it?” He asks, barely over a whisper.
Like this, Shiro’s bed head is even more pronounced. The top of his pajamas falls over his left shoulder, and one arm falls limp and empty over his lap. The effect is like the shirt is too big for him, and Keith has the resist the urge to fix it for him.
“Late,” Keith says. “You need something?”
Shiro makes an understanding noise and shakes his head. “No. M’good.”
“You sure you don’t want water? You shouldn’t get dehydrated.”
That only earns him a flat look. Shiro yawns, then flops bonelessly back down. It’s a movement Keith has seen from his wolf before, after a long day. “In the morning,” Shiro says. His eyes track to where Keith’s legs are covered by blankets. “M’taking your cot? I can move.”
Protectiveness and frustration both bubble up in Keith. “Don’t you dare. We can share a damn bed.” Then he pauses, considering. “Unless you think it’ll mess with you.”
“With you? No. Just feel bad.” Shiro closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. “I’m okay sharing. You cold?”
How could Shiro tell that? “I’ll be fine.”
Shiro cracks open one eye, then slowly raises his left arm in invitation. “M’cold too. C’mere. Body heat. Survival training.”
This can’t be happening. This has to be some sort of weird dream, or else a terrible joke from the universe. But Keith scoots forward anyway, letting himself be folded under Shiro’s remaining arm. The metal bits on the other shoulder are cold as the open air, but Shiro moves it away before it can make Keith uncomfortable.
“I don’t think we need survival training in the Black Lion,” Keith says, even as he settles in.
Shiro just hums. “Fine. Just want you. Please?”
Want you.
Fuck, Keith wants to hear those words again. Over and over, in all possible meanings.
“Anything you want,” Keith promises, watching as Shiro’s eyes close again. “Just ask.”
Shiro makes a throaty, pleased noise that settles somewhere in Keith’s stomach. He nuzzles into Keith’s hair, then lets out a low, contented sigh. “Saved me,” he says, so quiet and breathy that he probably didn’t mean for it to be heard, even this close. His lips brush against Keith’s temple.
What is going on?
Keith slowly slides his arm around Shiro’s waist, half because he can’t resist and half just for balance. There’s no response, just quiet breathing against his ear and hair.
….Shiro just fell asleep again, didn’t he?
Honestly, had he really been awake?
Keith’s heart pounds, loud and hard enough that he’s half afraid Shiro will wake properly. But he sleeps on, breathing deep and slow.
There has to be another explanation for this. Some platonic reason for the way Shiro’s snuggling in and kissing the side of his head.
A kernel of warm hope begins to grow and wind through Keith’s chest.
That’s something to deal with in the morning. For now, Keith is going to take this excuse.
Besides, he’s warm and Shiro is clinging in his sleep.
I have you shoved against the wall but now I can’t stop looking at your mouth
Allura misses the days when this used to be easy.
When she first woke, she could best most of the paladins in short order. Compared to her own training, their Garrison had left them woefully unprepared. Allura was well versed in using her opponents size and force against them. Alteans were, after all, naturally on the smaller side, and they had developed in battle against beings who tended much larger. None of them were prepared for her techniques or her enhanced strength, and she often had them pinned in ticks.
The exception to that rule had always been Shiro.
While his basic training clearly came from the same place, Shiro had an edge, a speed, a viciousness that none of the other paladins showed. Keith came closest, but his fighting was more scrappy. Shiro had learned his skills through the necessity of battle.
Mind, Allura could still beat him. He had little defense for her tricks, and he seemed to hold himself back whenever he got too close to landing a strong blow. No matter how many times Allura pinned him or send him to the mat, he wasn’t comfortable going all out on her.
Now, going on two years later, Allura understands that better. It had taken several drinks each, but Shiro and Keith had finally shared pieces of their battle. Though Keith had ultimately won, Allura knows Shiro had been holding back more than any of them could have anticipated. Shiro, untethered, fights like a storm. A force of nature. Deadly and uncaring, merely tearing through anything in its wake.
That’s not to say that Allura still can’t hold her own.
It’s just not easy anymore.
Allura grunts as her shoulder impacts the mat hard. She rolls with the movement and snaps to her feet, but she can’t get her bayard out before Shiro runs into her like an accelerating star ship. Allura twists out of the way, just barely. Something else impacts her in the back instead.
As Allura goes down again, she twists and kicks out. Her leg reaches out just for enough to kick Shiro on the back of the knee. His leg bucks, forcing him to kneel.
That handled, Allura twists, and scowls at the floating arm coming toward her.
If she’d known what a pain it would be to spar, Allura might have made it slightly less effective.
(No, she wouldn’t have.)
Rather than run, Allura shifts her weight, changing her angle just slightly. The arm follows immediately, and continues to close in on her, fingers clenched into a fist.
So Allura falls flat onto her back.
The arm whizzes over her head, and instead hits Shiro on the shoulder, knocking him down with a grunt.
Allura twists into a crouch, then ignores Shiro’s pained curses as she grabs him by the back of his space suit. She lifts him up to her shoulder height without an issue, then reels back to throw him.
But Shiro doesn’t give her the chance. His left hand grabs onto her forearm, vice-tight, and he uses that to swing himself closer. The way his spine bends doesn’t look possible (or comfortable), but he managed to wrap his legs around Allura’s waist. Like that, he can’t be thrown, and extremely close quarters are only to his advantage.
Rather than try to shove him off, Allura grabs onto his arm in turn, locking him in place. Then she barrels forward and slams his back into the closest wall.
Shiro grunts and arches, trying to get away from the pain. But there’s no where to go but into Allura. He shoves their chests together, eyes flashing with frustration, and he growls right in her face.
Suddenly, the urge to hurt leaves Allura. But the fight singing through her blood doesn’t.
Instead, her eyes lock onto Shiro’s lips, and all she wants to do is bite.
Shiro struggles for a moment, his left hand scrambling for purchase against his shoulder. Finally, his fingers tangle into her ponytail, an open threat as he bares his teeth. “Let go,” he demands. It’s the low, authoritative tone he uses on the Atlas crew or the Voltron team when he wants immediate results.
Allura doesn’t answer. She just moves both her hands to where his thighs meet his ass and digs in her fingers.
Shiro jolts, his eyes wide. He’s been flushed since they started to spar, but the color darkens and his mouth fall open. Like that, his bottom lip looks even more tempting.
Still working on the same instincts she had in the fight, Allura gives in. She leans in and takes his mouth like its’ hers to conquer.
A groan tumbles out of Shiro’s mouth. His right hand floats in closer, splayed over the small of Allura’s back. Then his legs drop down, holding himself up, but he doesn’t make any move to break away. Instead he tilts his head and flicks his tongue along where Allura’s teeth worry his lip.
The lack of struggle is what pulls Allura’s attention back to reality. Panting, she pulls away, staring at Shiro. His eyes are glazed, and his lips are red from the punishing kiss. He stares like she’s a totally new person and his craving wrapped up into one.
Then, Shiro’s fingers tighten in her hair. He uses the grip to shove her forward into another kiss. This time, he plunges his tongue into her mouth, goading and demanding. When he pulls back, he grins. It’s vicious and it makes Allura’s heart pound in her ears. “We should...” His eyes flicker to the door, unlocked and open to anyone interested in a spar.
It would be very bad for some crew member to walk in on this.
It would be even worse for them to walk in on their Captain getting wrecked by the Altean princess.
Allura just ducks her head down and bites his neck, loving the way the pale skin gives way to bright red. She trails both hands up, digging her nails in like claws that could rip through his suit. “Or you could turn around.”
A whine tumbles out of Shiro. He flutters his lids, clearly struggling against desire. “My room has supplies,” he manages. “Less than a minute away.”
Hm, a decent point.
Allura scrapes against his nipples, pleased when he jolts. Humans are so sensitive there, and she plans to enjoy that knowledge. “Walk fast. You have fifty ticks.”
Grabbing her hand, Shiro takes off at a run.
Allura laughs the whole way.
Fighting may not be easy anymore, but now it’s much more fun.
How good/bad of an idea would Atlas/Shiro/Black be, with all the fun possession and mental elements you've been playing with? (My immediate reaction is "entertaining disaster" but.)
Immediate, catastrophic failure. Shiro is Atlas’ Captain, and she isn’t about to share that with the dumb cat who replaced him. It doesn’t matter why the bond broke down or that Shiro stepped back from it: Black gave up their claim, and Atlas isn’t going to let them just waltz back in, thank you very much.
Basically, it would be a mental cat fight, and Shiro would have to go lie down in the dark with an ice pack over his eyes.
