My vision of Rainira and Misaria in modern au.
Misaria/Sonoya as Siren
🫧 Sirens are demonic beings in Greek mythology whose upper body was female and whose lower body was fish-like. They were also depicted with wings.
🫧 Sirens personified the enchanting but treacherous sea surface, under which lurk sharp cliffs and shoals.
🫧 In post-Homeric tales, sirens are depicted as maidens of wondrous beauty, with a charming voice. With the sound of their songs they put travelers to sleep and then tear them apart and devour them.
🫧 The first surviving references to sirens are in The Odyssey. They dwell between the land of Circea and Scylla on the rocks of the island, strewn with the bones and dried skin of their victims. Destroyed many people whose bones were white in the meadow. Sirens with enchanting songs lure travelers sailing by, who, forgetting everything in the world, sail to the magical island and perish with their ships. Odysseus himself escaped the insidious sirens only thanks to Circe's warning: he covered the ears of his companions with wax, and ordered himself to be tied to the mast.
🫧 It was foretold to the Sirens that they would perish if any traveler passed by their island without giving in to temptation. Therefore, when Odysseus' ship sailed past them, they threw themselves into the sea and turned to cliffs, or threw off their feathers and drowned themselves.
