There is something deeply comforting about returning to a place that holds a beautiful piece of your family’s history. For me, Vivere Hotel Alabang is exactly that kind of sanctuary.

I still remember checking in here about two to three years ago when my sister and her kids flew back to visit the Philippines for the very first time after the pandemic. It was a complete full-circle moment for our family. Watching my niece and nephew run around, laugh, and build their earliest memories of Manila right here made this place incredibly special to me.

Kidding aside, I recently felt the heavy urge for a quiet weekend reset away from the usual daily grind. I decided to pack a weekend bag and revisit this premier urban oasis to share a deeply personal, unfiltered guest journey with you—covering everything from the suite to the rooftop dining.

An Honest Look at the Space

Let’s be real for a moment: the room does feel a bit dated for a 5-star property. The interior aesthetics and the furniture—like the sofa, chairs, and tables—could definitely use a modern revamp to align with current trends.

Let's keep it completely real: if you are looking for ultra-modern, crisp, minimalistic high-tech designs, the room might feel a bit old for a typical 5-star experience. The interior aesthetics and the furniture—including the sofa, dining chairs, and tables—definitely need a contemporary revamp to bring them up to modern trends.

But what the suite lacks in modern updates, it completely makes up for in sheer space and functional layout.

I absolutely love how expansive the room is. You can pace around freely, unpack, and lounge without constantly bumping into furniture. One quirky, nostalgic detail I noticed was the abundance of communication—there are multiple in-line analog phones scattered throughout the room. You'll find one in the living room area, one on the bedroom side table, one near the kitchen counter, and even one mounted inside the bathroom!

The kitchenette setup is highly practical, featuring an electric kettle for your morning brew and a full-size refrigerator where I kept my drinks chilled. They provide standard complimentary coffee, creamer, and sugar packs, along with two complimentary bottles of water daily (note that additional bottles requested afterward will cost around Php 50 each). A huge shoutout to the Vivere team as well for preparing a sweet, thoughtful welcome treat for us upon check-in!

The Highlight: The Alabang Cityscape

The absolute best part of the room? The view.

Looking out over the sprawling landscape of Filinvest City is mesmerizing. At night, I turned off all the main bedroom lights and just utilized the ambient glow coming from the neighboring buildings and establishments. If you enjoy quiet, sentimental moments reflecting on the view of a glittering city skyline, this room needs to be on your bucket list.

Detailed Day Schedule: Maximize Your Staycation

Because this property is frequently jampacked on weekends with training workshops, birthdays, and weddings, planning your hours helps ensure a genuinely relaxing stay. Here is exactly how I spent my hours to maximize my staycation:

2:00 PM – Smooth Check-In & Welcome Treats: Drop off bags, marvel at the grand winding staircase in the lobby, and settle into the suite with a quick welcome dessert.

3:30 PM – The Lounge & Binge Session: Melt into the living room sofa, sync up the flat-screen TV to Netflix, and catch up on favorite shows in full air-conditioned comfort.

5:00 PM – Amenity Exploration: Walk the grounds to check out the facilities. Take a quick dip or lounge by the Lama Pool on the 4th floor, or peek at the Vivera Spa & Massage and the Kids Playroom on the 8th floor. If you're staying over a Saturday, they even host Free Movie Nights at 6:00 PM on the 29th floor!

6:30 PM – Dining in the Sky: Head to the rooftop for an unforgettable dinner.

10:00 PM – Lights Out Reflection: Enjoy a deep, long soak in the private bathtub before turning off the lights to watch the city lights glow through the window panels.

You cannot talk about the best hotel in Alabang without highlighting its crowning jewel: The Nest Dining in the Sky. Located on the rooftop, it offers a stunning, panoramic 180-degree view of the metro.

I secured a reservation just in time for sunset, and while the view was breathtaking, the food completely stole the show. We indulged in a luxurious 3-course feast:

Vivere House Salad (Php 480): Fresh mixed greens, microgreens, haricot verts, corn, kidney beans, and egg tossed in a house vinaigrette.

Clam Chowder Soup (Php 400): This was my absolute favorite! It’s a rich, creamy chowder served inside a toasted cereal bread bowl topped with sesame seeds.

Steak and Mushroom Pasta (Php 900): A creamy linguine loaded with wild mushrooms and topped with a perfectly grilled, juicy striploin steak.

Braised Lamb Shanks (Php 1,500): This was a massive portion of fall-off-the-bone meat slow-cooked in a rich tomato and wine sauce, served with steamed rice. It had that distinct, pungent, and gamey aroma unique to lamb—which was a new experience for me, but it definitely whetted my appetite quickly!

Mango Crème Brûlée: A velvety custard perfection topped with fresh mangoes and a crisp, caramelized sugar crust.

To wash down the feast, we tried their signature summer mocktails: the fiery Pineapple Ginger Spritz (Php 450) and the refreshing Citrus Reverie (Php 550).

🔔 Tip for Travelers: The Nest is open daily from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM. While walk-ins are welcome, reservations are highly encouraged. They can even host large private events for up to 150 people! You can browse their menu in advance on the official Vivere website.

The Morning After: Breakfast Buffet

The culinary experience doesn't stop at dinner. The next morning, we headed back up to The Nest for the breakfast buffet. Eating a hearty mix of Filipino favorites (Pork Asado, Chicken Adobo, and Stir-Fried Veggies), fresh salad, a live egg station, and comforting DIY Congee while watching the morning sun hit the city was the ultimate relaxation.

While Vivere Hotel's exterior facade and suite furnishings show clear signs of aging and would benefit greatly from an aesthetic upgrade, the heart of the hotel remains completely intact. The hospitality here is outstanding; the service is top-tier, exceptionally organized, and remarkably warm.

My short stay was a beautiful, much-needed breath of fresh air. Sometimes, we don't need a loud, hyper-modern distraction; we just need a vast, quiet room, a sentimental view of the city lights, and an exceptional meal in the clouds to fully reset.

Hotel H2O: How It Feels Like Staying in an Aqua Room?

After a long break, I decided to treat myself to a quick staycation in Manila, and what better place to stay than Hotel H2O? If you're looking for a unique hotel experience, this spot is worth checking out! I'm excited to share all about my stay, from booking the room to the magical aquatic vibes.

Hotel H2O is not your ordinary hotel—it's a marine-themed escape located within the Manila Ocean Park complex. With rooms designed to immerse you in the beauty of marine life, the hotel offers a unique twist to a traditional staycation.

Hotel H2O stands out for its underwater-themed rooms that give you a glimpse of marine life without even leaving your bed!

Fun fact: The hotel’s proximity to the ocean park makes it a great family-friendly destination, combining entertainment with a relaxing stay.

Booking the Aqua Room

I opted for the Aqua Room, one of the hotel's signature rooms, and I booked it via Agoda for around 5K pesos—quite affordable for such a unique experience.

This room is like an underwater haven with a stunning aquarium wall filled with vibrant marine creatures.

The aquarium inside the room is truly mesmerizing. I spent hours just watching various fish swim by. Some of the species I spotted included angelfish, 3-spot domino damselfish, powder brown tang, clownfish, and many more.

It felt like I had my very own private ocean view!

Hotel H2O and Manila Ocean Park: A Perfect Duo

One of the best things about Hotel H2O is its convenient location. It's part of the same complex as Manila Ocean Park, which means you can easily combine your staycation with a day full of aquatic adventures.

The Manila Ocean Park offers fun for the whole family, with attractions like the Oceanarium, fish spa, and the Jellies exhibit. For those who book packages with the hotel, it's just a short walk to these exciting activities.

Dining at Hotel H2O: Makan Makan

When it came to food, I planned to try out the breakfast buffet at their in-house restaurant, Makan Makan Asian Food Village, but I ended up skipping it. The food options were a bit limited that day (for a Php 450 Breakfast Buffet), and since we had plans to visit Intramuros, I decided to grab something outside.

Most of the restaurants were closed in the evening so what better way is order food using food delivery app like Grab & Food Panda

Makan Makan is conveniently located near the hotel’s arcade and toy shop, making it a great stop if you're with kids or if you want to pick up some cool souvenirs from Manila Ocean Park.

A Great Hotel for Family Staycations

I can easily see how Hotel H2O would be a hit for families. The Aqua Room itself is an unforgettable experience for kids (and adults, too!), and with the Manila Ocean Park just next door, there's plenty of entertainment.

Whether you're looking for a quiet getaway or a fun-filled family trip, this hotel covers all bases.

In summary, my stay at Hotel H2O was a refreshing break from the usual city vibe.

From the serene aquarium views in the Aqua Room to the proximity to Manila’s iconic attractions like Intramuros and Ocean Park, this is a perfect staycation spot, especially for those looking to unwind with a bit of adventure on the side. I highly recommend it for families, couples, and even solo travelers who want something a little out of the ordinary.
