They’d barely returned to camp in the storm, half frozen and half scratched up from a lycanthrope attack, a too close call that she’d worry about the consequences of later. The camp was half deserted, and she’d heard the whispers too quickly. With her good arm, Katie swatted away whoever was trying to usher her to the infirmary, eyes wide with panic as she ran to the first three cabins blaring in her head. They were fine; they were safe; they were just late. Only Cabin Six had provided any useful information, Malcolm assuring her Annabeth had returned safely.
Only one person accounted for, Katie went straight to the campfire next, finding a circle of campers warming up. “ Someone ! I need a list of the campers still missing, now. Does anyone have any information ? Are there search parties ? ”
