See the guy looking up. This is from my room on the fourth floor of The Beekman hotel in downtown Manhattan. I know, the non-straight angle in which I clicked this photo is driving me nuts too. The Beekman drips atmosphere. You walk in, and you think, where their buildings in New York that were as a magnificent and yet, as cozy as this? And then you think, Frank Gehry, behold the power of wrought iron, geometric details on the floor, mood lighting, and sound absorbing tapestries (which by the way could not absorb the racket around the cocktail hour downstairs). Gehry's building by the way, it's just down the road. I stayed here for four days and loved it. There are a few hotels in India that have this combination that The Beekman does so effortlessly. Stylish, design driven, and yet, completely rooted in the geography of its location. The Park Chennai comes to mind. But for the most part, hotels, particularly chain hotels seem to take the philosophy that they ought to look like they could be anywhere. The Beekman was anointed on Condé Nast traveler's hot list. Travel and leisure put it on the cover of its Hotels issue. #newyork #hotels #thebeekmanhotel #hothotels #manhattan #hotlist #condenasttraveler #travelandleisure
