Richard: Do you prefer to give pain or to receive it?
“Receive it.” She says it without hesitationor further thought. It seems simple to her.
“I’m used to it, really.”
Rufus: Have you ever compromised at your own detriment?
Aislin gives a shrug and looks off aside, as if attemptingto recall something. She purses her lips and begins tochew on her lower one.
“Nothing specific comes to mind, but...I don’t doubt it.”
Rami: Do you tend to overbear burden?
“I do, but I’m doing a lot to try and fix that.”
But what she doesn’t say is that it’s a round about thing, whether one becomes deeply involved in the inner workings of other peoples’ lives or not, guilt is following either way.
Nigel: One thing that has changed your mind on a subject?
There’s a process behind her eyes,a timeline playing out. There wereplenty of things like that...
“There’s a strange guy in animal masks... he’s convinced me that I’m never alone.”
There’s something distant in the way she said it,but she doesn’t seem interested in elaborating.
