ok u know those books with “”sex scenes“” where the euphemism game is so strong you don’t realize ur reading a sex scene until ur halfway through it (or, in one notable case, 200 pages later)? thats where im going with this i am seriously going to do shitty word gymnastics in order to avoid saying what the things are actually called

it looked good to me at first but some of the wording didn’t sit well with me and when i finished reading the post i was kinda like... that’s it?? you’re gonna talk about hypersexualization being an issue that affects LGB ppl, POC, and ND folks, but you won’t talk about how that stereotype — both within and outside the respective communities — marginalizes asexual people?

honestly i haven’t read non-anime fic in… far too long, but from what i remember yeah… it was a lot better for f/f ships in non-anime fandoms. for the most part at least

yeah honestly it’s so much better out of this hellhole. the example i love to pull up is the difference between the owari no seraph and hibike! euphonium fandoms -- both anime aired at about the same time, both had pretty high quality animation, both featured a central same-sex relationship that was pretty close to canon gay, both shows’ main characters were about the same age. owasera was based on a manga, true, but imo the story was pretty ... Bad. like, not well-paced, cliche, etc etc. whereas hibike, well, it was based on novels and like no one ever reads novels, but overall, the content of hibike was much better developed.

and yet. wayyyyy more owasera fic, way more owasera fans in general, art, headcanons, etc. in hibike we have like 30 fics, 3 fanartists, and some amvs. owasera’s main ship is m/m, hibike’s is f/f. hmm

but in my experience with non-anime media, like the 100 and carmilla and legend of korra and life is strange, the fandom is, you know, a thing. and there’s good fic and stuff. no show with mainly f/f ships is as popular as spn or sherlock or all those other shows with giant fandoms that have basically morphed into fandoms for the central m/m ship, but yknow.
