G2 NELSON DISCUSSES SUMMER SPLIT AND WORLDS IN HIS FIRST INTERVIEW
Nelson sat down with Hotspawn for his first interview after joining G2Esports as a strategic coach to talk about how the team is responding to new ideas and suggestions and what are the expectations for the Summer Split and Worlds. This is the first time he coaches an European team, since his experience derives mainly from the LPL region. In the recent PGL and Cooldown interviews, Mikyx and Jankos often talked about how important is currently Nelson for the team, since he brings a lot of new strategies and fresh concepts to the gameplay as well as some tricks from LPL (like Mikyx mentioned while talking about him roaming more as a support), however the team also confessed that they are improving slowly. In particular, it is difficult to think about new techniques while playing on stage. Nelson said that "the players are receptive even though most of them are veterans" as they try to adapt to a new style. On the other hand, his words regarding the overall potential of the team are a bitter truth to hear, especially for the fans:
"I don’t have any crazy expectations. For me, our priority is to qualify for Worlds and do our best to win the LEC. Anything else is not realistic to talk about, I think. Right now, even if we improve by 20%, 30%, we are still not gonna get out of Worlds groups. We’ll be in third place or fourth place."
What do you think about it? Do you think Nelson is being too strict or do you think he's just realistic with his expectations? In the mean time rumors has it that Scrims this week were explosive 👀
