Amma is a Hottentotta sp. which is an animal capable of parthenogenesis (a form of asexual reproduction). I believe that she produced these scorplings through apomictic parthenogenesis, meaning her babies are all nearly genetically identical clones. because of this, all of her offspring are expected to be female - just like her!
