The corridor was quiet, as it usually was. Akane wondered, briefly, why that was the case--why the enforcers’ quarters sounded nothing like typical living arrangements in the city. They weren’t typical, of course, being little more than elaborate prison cells, but enforcers were still people, and people were loud. At least, Akane thought so. Sometimes she could hear her neighbors arguing through the wall of her own apartment. Maybe they soundproofed everything down here. She wished that her apartment was soundproof. At least on the one wall.
When she finally reached her destination, she hesitated outside the door. It was a little late and perhaps bordering on rude to visit at such an hour, but she hadn’t come all this way after a long shift for nothing. Still, Akane wasn’t in the habit of making a nuisance of herself--at least not intentionally.
So she knocked, but softly. Just in case.

Sick days
Masaoka lifted his arm which had been draped over his eyes to see who had opened the door to his living quarters. “Oh...? Are you alone?” His voice is raspy, and he is covered in sweat. He rarely called in for a shift--being this sick, he couldn’t possibly work.
“You’re misunderstanding my question, Ginoza-san. It’s stepping out of my boundries a little bit--but I’ve been curious: Who do you like (愛する)? And--I’m not naive! Where did you get that...?”
" Why are you here? You're not on duty tonight."
“Kagari wanted to switch his shift...” Something about a game that arrived by mail earlier in the day. He hung up his coat and approached his own desk, taking a seat. A smile follows, “You’re stuck with me tonight.”
