Just the one...
Drove into town today to get some stuff for the house. One of the bigger tasks was once again mattress shopping but the mattress shop I wanted to go to isn't open on Saturdays, and I didn't realise that until we put it into the GPS 🫠 Went to two other mattress stores but the only one I tried that was comfortable had to be turned and rotated once a month, and like I find it hard enough to change a duvet cover by myself, there's no way I'm turning and rotating a mattress once a month without breaking one of my bedside lamps.
But I checked out a quilting fabric shop I've been wanting to go to forever, and I bought some cute fabrics I'll use for the seat cushion I want to make for the front door bench. And then we just ended up walking past another fabric shop that cut foam so I bought a block of foam for the inside of the seat cushion.
Also got myself a cheap pair of ankle-high wellington boots to use as gardening boots, since any other shoes I own will get soaked through if I try and walk on my lawn in the morning. And I finally had success in picking out some welcome mats to put at the doors in and out of the house.
I've also been on the hunt for curtains for the study with no luck. But we went into a third fabric store and they made curtains, and they had a nice set on display. I might end up asking them for a quote to make curtains for me with that fabric, because store-bought curtains can be ridiculously expensive, and custom made curtains might even just end up being cheaper.
Anyway, here's the fabric I got from the quilting shop:
The far left one I bought to match some other fabrics I have already been hoarding for a while, and the rest will probably be used for the seat cushion.
i have a name now. and i remember picrew existed, so i made myself in one

(reinstalling everything took so long, never doing this again)
Good news after much bullshit: WE GOT THE HOUSE!!! Better news for folks not living with me: The replacement enamel pins for the flawed cottagecore Als/Angels FINALLY came in!! I just got in last night after a super long/difficult few days- when I wake up more, I'll grade them!
It's February and 80f outside. My grass is already starting to awaken. I had to cut it today because I don't want it to get away from me when summer rolls around. By the way things are looking, it'll probably be over 100f soon 🥲
We really are in the worst timeline, huh?
I'm also working as fast as I can in the attic but my heat tolerance has plummeted after starting testosterone, so I can only work in the night (so like 12am to 3am is my preference) and even then I get exhausted and overheated and dehydrated fast. Laat night i only completed 4 rows compared to the 6 i did two nights ago 😭
I'm hoping sometime in the fall we can swing more insulation to go under the floor in the crawlspace.
I hate this. Sometimes I miss having a small apartment that didn't take so much to cool it 😅 but hell even in my apartment, the power bill soared to $150 in the summer because my apartment was a corner apartment and faced southwest.
Also need to figure out how to drain the water heater because I'm pretty sure it has mineral deposits... our hot water runs out very quickly. So intimidating.
Bleh.
Forbidden zone, no Joys allowed. Only Mothman and his bffs who are sealing everything off in plastic before they start ripping moldy Sheetrock out.
I have been given one task though so I don’t feel entirely useless.
I get to empty the linen closet which we don’t use for linen cause the drawers are impossible to open and the shelves get used as a dumping ground for “what should we do with this?” “Idk put it in the closet”. I should have grabbed a before picture because then you would have all seen how packed full it was of just Stuff but honestly I had a complete sensory overload meltdown the moment I opened it, so possibly not showing you was for the best.
I’ve got ETD taking pics of the basement too. So enjoy the catharsis that is watching us rip out the hell basement 😱
