Fans of the Houston Spies, a fictional baseball team, ran a workshop on how to organise your workplace yesterday. It was based on the IWW’s workplace organising training and went really well. (I helped.)

This is really wild. I’ve never seen fandoms mobilise to do this sort of thing before and the response was amazing. Blaseball’s official twitter retweeted the announcement,  an official IWW branch signal boosted the thank you message. We got almost a hundred people signed up for it. I really hope that this is a portent for what Fandom can be.

After all, this stuff is all about shared communities, shared mythologies, collaborating and telling each other stories. Let’s teach each other to take control of our workplaces, our local communities, and our lives.

If the right can organise online, so can we.

And we’re better at it.

HEY DO YOU LIKE BLASEBALL AND WANT TO LEARN HOW TO FORM A UNION IN YOUR WORKPLACE?

Blaseball is a game about community organising and working together against evil forces, and what epitomises that more than getting together with your fellow workers and taking control of your livelihood together?

With this in mind, the Houston Spies will be running two workplace organising training workshops based on those made by the Industrial Workers of the World with the aim of providing an introduction to creating a union in your workplace to oppose the cruelty of wage labour.

When: December 11th 2020 at 4pm-9pm GMT

January 2nd 2021 at 7pm-12am GMT

this is like really recent but I went to a haunted house with a few irls (mostly people you know)  to watch a movie... the people who own the place told us not to go to the end of the river? and thats because in the hallway there was a river that lead to a room (the rooms floor was grass) and the river ended there. we were like whats the worst that could happen (even tho we KNEW that house was haunted) and we set up the projector to watch the movie. mid-movie I got up to take a piss and when i was there there was a ghost that had a horse or cow skull as its head, walking slowly around. i was horrified and told the ghost the bathrooms free and ran back into the room to tell the others I found a ghost... the ghost ended up being rly nice tho n she gave us things. she was also dressed as a slavic granny???
