La vie est trop courte pour la passer nettoyage! (Life is too short to spend it cleaning!)
Day 65 – I missed Day 66 – Fail! Here’s my story:
Mark the cleaning guy was coming this morning (that’s how I have him in my phone – Mark the cleaning guy) When Mark comes I have to make sure the whole house is picked up. I just want him CLEANING! Well, that is not always as quick and easy as you think. My days are long and full, so…
1. Do I always empty the dishwasher promptly when it’s done running? No, sometimes we take clean dishes out of the dishwasher as we need them. Sometimes we just use paper plates and avoid the whole dish thing altogether. I realize that it’s not environmentally friendly, but I bought the jumbo pack of red Solo cups!
2. Next, laundry. Does everyone hate laundry as much as me? I don’t really mind putting in the wash. I don’t really mind putting it in the dryer. I don’t even mind all of my exercise stuff that I just hang on the drying rack. (Usually I just take them off the drying rack as I need to wear them, so I never even have to put them away.) But when it comes down to getting the clothes out of the dryer, folding them, and putting them away, I just hate it! I’m not sure why, because when I do, I feel really good about it, but…procrastination!
3. Mail – OMG I hate mail! There is so much and you know that about 97% of it is garbage! But I can’t really determine that until I have a chance to properly sort through it. So, there’s this basket on the counter, and we just pile it up until I have a chance to sort. And I am not sure when or why this happened, but my daughter and I have started to received an exorbitant amount of magazines. Each month or week, whatever they are, we get notice that they are about to expire. “Last chance to renew your subscription at our low special price!” Uh huh…My favorite is Essence Magazine…
4. Shoes – there are about 40 pair of shoes in my front foyer. There are 4 people currently living in my house, and let me just say that I keep all of my shoes in my bedroom closet. My daughter doesn’t actually have very many, and my middle son either. However, my youngest son has enough pair of shoes for his entire class at school! He just had a birthday, and used birthday money to buy 2 more pairs?!! A pair to match every outfit! My oldest son is the same way; they are both cut from the same cloth. As a matter of fact, of my 4 children, those 2 are the most like me. Hmmm…I said that I keep all of my shoes in my closet (on a 4 tier shoe rack!) I did not say that I don’t like shoes! Last summer my youngest son decided to count my shoes – 40 pair he told me! However, there was a secondary shoe rack that was sort of hidden and also my winter boots…so I’m not sure what the actual count is?!!
So maybe that’s it. I know that I have just revealed my less than perfect domestic skills. Before I started doing triathlons my house was perfect! But that meant that I spent the entire weekend cleaning. I would clean and scrub the bathrooms and floors and do all of the laundry and go grocery shopping (3 different stores) and cook 3 meals a day, etc... and run my kids around to friends and activities and have everyone over for Sunday dinner and then have to clean all over again. And then time to pack lunches, etc. for Monday and get ready for the work week. (And I still never got the “mother of the year” award???) Are you seeing anything wrong with this picture? I did nothing for ME! And I may have been a little uptight?!! So, not a perfect house, and not always perfect meals on the table each night, but guess what? I am fit, health, and most important, HAPPY! And I have Mark!
So where was I going with this? Oh yeah, by the time I got all my stuff done last night, I was exhausted. I typed my blog, but fell asleep mid key stroke. I woke up and was too tired to proof read and actually couldn’t even remember what the hell I wrote?!! I was sure that I hit save before I put my laptop away, and was going to review and post this morning, but when I got up, the page was blank!
My recap of Day 66 would be – early morning spin at Aspen. Excellent class! Very high energy, great playlist, lots of sweating going on. I know when the chit chatting diminishes, they are working to capacity. Lunch time spin at the YMCA. Also a high intensity interval class. Sometimes I feel like the 40 minute lunch classes are harder because we get right to it and push hard. I get rid of all the fluff!
Today was a day of rest…I’ve been working late every night, so I planned to just do nothing today. My own little triathlon tomorrow. 1.2 mile swim at Jamesville Reservoir, followed by a 56 mile ride on the 70.3 bike course, followed by a short run – 3 to 5 miles depending on what my body allows?!! Half Ironman next Sunday! I can’t wait!
