tagged by hyde-leo-from-n ( ♥⌣♥ ) to talk about how you got into kpop...
before: I kind of grew up with it around me, a lot of friends/people I knew were from singapore/malaysia/china/etc, and so often at school they would talk about it or dance to songs (I remember watching my friends rehearsing to Mr Simple or Gee and laughing at it...ahaha...). I did a lot of art then too, finding inspiration from (non-kpop) dances, but began drawing fanart for anime. I was a major fan of D.gray-man and it inspired me, but after Hoshino injured herself and stopped drawing, I started losing my own inspiration too...
and then: A friend and I used to send each other the lamest kpop videos we could find, except one day I stumbled across TOP...I got interested in k-rap, and discovered Outsider. I started to look around more at different groups, Brown Eyed Girls’ “Sixth Sense” I loved, but often I felt that the guy groups were...not my style, too bubbly. Then I came across BAP when they debuted, they were powerful. I started noticing dances more, looking at MV concepts, and started finding artistic inspiration there. VIXX were the first group I really got into and started drawing for. They had everything I loved - concepts, music, great choreography, etc.
and now: Now...I’m a fan .___. I got into kpop more by watching variety shows. This was around when I started studying at university, and so the comic relief helped me greatly with stress, plus these shows were much shorter than shows here, giving me more time to study. I also ended up meeting a lot of amazing people here through the same interests, and I feel like these people as well have also changed me.
