The new ULTRAKILL update got me wanting to see Gabriel realizing that the war machine that defeated him, the one he considered unbreakable, can be and is afraid of death. That they can feel fear in a very living and human way. See them terrifies out of their code. Feel their terror. Understand that they want to scream but can't.
Just had another thought, do you guys think Chung Myung would, initially, be negatively or positively affected by someone from his past coming back to life like he did?
This has spoilers up to ch 800+!!
Like, I really like the idea of him being overjoyed, of him being able to rest a little easier, knowing that there's someone else who can truly understand. But also, as Chung Myung grows throughout the novel, he begins to separate himself more and more from the person he used to be. The Sword Saint died on that mountain range, and in his place, slowly but surely, emerged the Divine Dragon. I have more to say about Chung Myungs separation of identity, but that's not the point of this thought.
Yes, in the beginning he is always comparing the old and new Mount Hua. As the story develops, however, he stops comparing them all the time. He begins to accept that he will never have his old Mount Hua back, and he starts falling in love with the one surrounding him. He, himself starts to change. Out with the old, in with the new and all that jazz.
So how would he react to say, Chung Mun or Chung Jin coming back? Initially, I think he'd be relieved. Long term? I'm not sure. Chapter 850 something (or around there idk) explains this pretty well. Chung Myung draws inspiration from those in his past life who he thought would be able to help the present Mount Hua. He tries to think like Chung Mun, he tries to strategize like Chung Jin, and when he can't he develops feelings of inadequacy.
MAJOR SPOILERS BEGIN HERE!!!!
This is directly shown after the battle with Jang Ilso at Yangtze river. After Chung Myung woke up from his injuries, the first thing he did was go over the battle in his head, thinking about how many things during the battle that he miss, and how he wishes someone besides him was brought back. How anyone else would be more useful than him. These feelings of inadequacy persist, until Yu Iseol and Baek Cheon knock it into his head that the reason Mount Hua has gotten this far is because of HIM.
Bringing back the original topic of this thought, I'm really not sure how Chung Myung would react to someone from his past coming back. Would he look to them for guidance (probably) and give up someone of the control he has over the sect/alliance (probably not?)? Would he maintain all his control? Would his training methods change? It has been stated in the novel that the reason Chung Myung didn't originally teach anyone HIS sword was because it's a deviation of traditional Mount Hua techniques, suited more for the battlefield. Would having Chung Jin, who is notorious about his intense desire to pass on Mount Huas techniques for future generations, affect Chung Myungs decision to deviate from tradition? Would he expect whoever that came back to support his plan whole heartedly??
Jvjfjdjsjna I really don't know!! This is what is so interesting about Chung Myung. He is influenced by so many different characters, but doesn't let that influence change who he is fundamentally as a person. I can't even begin to think of how having someone from the past would change and warp Chung Myungs current plans
Some days I can’t help but wonder how would Shen Jiu pre finding out the Yue Qi was alive again react to becoming exactly like the Qi’s in someone else’s eyes.
Before the bitterness set in and all he was was angry. Before he realized that he’s brother never even tried to come back for him (in his mind). Back when all he was angry and so so determined to be better than those bastards.
How would that Shen Jiu have reacted to turning not his worst tormentors. For someone to look at him in an even worse way than he ever looked at Qiu Jianluo and Wu Yanzi.
