This actually happened to me years ago, I was Jayce in this scenario and my neighbor was Colin. We ended up watching a movie in theaters with our families (kids movie I won't name for spoiler reasons) and the main character sacrificed herself. Since she was my favorite character at the time (this was also a well-established franchise) I was in tears and sobbing about it.

AND THEN MY NEIGHBOR HAD THE NERVE TO COMMENT THAT SHE'LL BE RESURRECTED
