I cannot figure out how to use tumblr for the life of me.

How do I find communities??? Friends?? I just switched from twitter (musky melon man being the decisive factor) and tumblr just has so much customisation that it can get overwhelming. Anyway if this reaches someone somehow pls help me i am begging
