Artist Anthony Howe's 3D kinetic sculptures are massive, moving pieces that utilize the united visual power of wind, metal, and mirrors. We first discovered his spectacular work earlier this year and now, thanks to VICE's The Creators Project, a series of equally hypnotic gifs (created by Jordan Kinley) have been released of several of Howe's pieces. They're also accompanied by some additional insight into the artist's workflow and inspiration.
Having first started his artistic career as a painter, Howe explains his decision to shift his focus by saying, "I just was bored with everything being static in my visual world. I wanted to see stuff flow." As a result, he delved into the world of wind-powered kinetic sculpture, continually developing his designs on animation programs, constructing three-dimensional blueprints, that are then translated to his cutting program, allowing for large, machine-cut pieces of curved metal.
Now, after decades of working on his craft, Howe reveals that…
Correct me if I'm wrong (haven't played in a while) but in the game didn't they say it was Luke's plan from the get go to escape Howes despite not having a plan or a destination or a good amount of supplies? And would that mean that he indirectly got every single person there killed, if we use the same logic as the people who say Sarah indirectly killed Nick and all that shit. The ultimate Luke fuck up xD
The whole planning of the escape came off disconnected and nonsensical for all parties involved, and I’m having a hard time even remembering it all. They talk about the dinner bell plan, but I don’t think they ever discussed how the fuck they were going to get the door open. Bonnie just kind of became part of the plan in place of something they never worked out. I guess Clem could have opened the door, but it was already a huge risk just turning on the speakers, let alone back-tracking to open the door next.
And Mike was the one brought up Parker’s Run as a meeting place (along with the idea that they NEEDED a damn meeting place in case they got separated), so Luke had no knowledge of that at the time he asked Clem to get the radio. But then Mike never explained how to get to Parker’s Run, so suggesting it as a meeting place was kind of pointless without directions. In Amid the Ruins, everyone just wanders through the woods and is teleported there by magic, except for Luke, Sarah and maybe Nick, who apparently wandered into the magic portal that takes you to trailer parks.
I was just fixated on getting a radio seemed like the most pointless part of this already poorly thought out plan AND also involved the greatest risk. After it fails they don’t even bother to compensate for the loss of the radio and just leave with Bonnie’s help, so what was the hold up in the first place?
And Luke getting busted gets the whole group in trouble. If he hadn’t told Clem to get the damn radio, there’d be no evidence the group conspired with Luke or even had any knowledge of him, and then Kenny probably wouldn’t have gotten his eye socket bashed in.
I get they wanted to create some action for the player, but it feels like we might as well been sent to retrieve something literally called a MacGuffin for all the good the damn radio would have done.
As for flimsy indirect TWD logic, I’ve always said if you blame Sarah for Reggie’s death, then that means you also acknowledge she saved everyone else’s lives since Reggie’s death convinces Bonnie to betray Carver and it’s with her help they escape. So yeah, Sarah sucking at pruning blueberry bushes saved the day, and if that only happened because of Carver ordering her slapped, that means Carver destroyed his own community with just a slap. =)
