SO THIS IS FOR HOWELLATMELESTER AND IF YOU ARE NOT HER PLEASE DO NOT READ BECAUSE OTHERWISE I WILL GET EMBARRASSED AND THROW MY LAPTOP OUT OF THE WINDOW
"I DON'T PAY YOU FOR DOING NOTHING!" my boss shouted through the door to the backroom. i hate this job. actually, no, that's not fair to say. it was my decision to get a weekend job, i needed the paycheck to pay for the YouTube merch i "waNTED SO BAD I COULD D I E". it was just a chore having to turn up every week and stand behind a counter of a shop that nobody really entered. i leaned against the wall behind the register, thinking about the things i could be doing otherwise. probably nothing but just scrolling down my tumblr dash. "i wish i was at home" i moaned in my head, imagining the stuff i was missing out on. i mean, you never know, there could be a second mishapocalypse going down or Chris Kendall might have Cole Sproused us again for the third time this year.
i was snapped out of my day dream by the jingle of the bell on the door opening. i looked up, intrigued not many people come in to this shop. standing in the doorway was a boy, about my age. he was wearing a llama hat which caused his subtle brown hair to stick down, giving him a youthful look. his eyes scoured the shelves stacked with all sorts of cards before they rested on me. his deep eyes, the colour of dark chocolate with flecks of hazel nut, stared into mine before he smiled, sending me a shiver of delight. his mesmerizing eyes turned away as he headed towards a shelf of cards with daffodils printed on the front for mother's day. i started as his llama hat, secretly fangirling inside, then i realized how stupid i must look, grinning at a boy's animal hat like a mad man. i busied myself by opening a pack of child's birthday cards. as i sorted through them, i couldn't help but smile at the one at the bottom of the as i noticed two llamas in the left corner of the zoo design. i heard his foot steps shuffle over to me so i turned to face him. he stopped a few inches from the register and i felt a small breeze from when he walked towards me. i could smell the citrus and water notes of his cologne, the scent reminding me of hot, blissful summer days. he smiled at me, and i couldn't stop myself from beaming back at him, his entrancing mahogany eyes swallowing me again. i shook myself out of it and looked down at the counter.
"i like your hat" i managed to mumble, god knows how i plucked up the courage to actually talk to him. i looked back up at his shining face as a melodic chuckle escaped his lips.
"thanks, i love your wristband!" he replied, i couldn't have imagined how perfectly his voice suited him, not high like a pre-pubescent 12 year old or too deep like a baritone of a choir, but just at a perfect note to send ripples through my mind.
i giggled, not knowing why somebody so perfect would walk into this shop. he put the mother's day card he had picked out earlier on the counter and placed the exact change for it in my hand. my hands were slightly shaky and i managed to drop the money he gave me. i cursed myself under my breath as i reached to pick it up. he laughed once more, sounding like a perfect angel choir, causing me to almost drop the change once more.
as i opened the cash register and threw the money in he spoke again. "do you work here a lot?" i tried not to look up into the windows to his soul again, knowing i would just stand there gaping with my mouth catching flies.
"sometimes i work here on Saturday afternoons." i said, going against what i knew was best for me and peeking up at his chocolate eyes. he smiled, showing his perfect, pearly teeth again.
"well, i'll see you later." he said, still beaming at me, before picking up his card and turning away. i watched him leave the store until the door closed, the bell ringing again. i sighed with a smile on my face, anticipating when i would exactly see him later. i found my work again and continued to sort through the cards behind the register. my eyes caught the pair of llamas in the corner of the design and i smirked, knowing i would never forget the day when i met the pretty boy with the llama hat.
(i apologize for the lack of capital letters i just couldn't be bothered omg sorry)
