This happened in 1997 when I was about 3 years old. One August morning, we went to the grocery store, a really big one, my mom did her shopping like normally there and we went home after that. Later that day, the news spread, turns out, at about 12:00, just a little after after we left the market, the kitchen of the store exploded and caused a fire which spread really rapidly and killed many people inside it. Worst is everything was enclosed, the smoke wouldn’t come out so nobody outside realized what was going on, the lights of the place turned off so it was all engulfed in darkness, smoke and flames with many people trying to get out. This accident is really remembered in my hometown, plenty of people died that day, and remembrance ceremonies were held plenty of times, but what shocked my mom the most was that if we had been just a bit later that day to that grocery store we could have died, didn’t happen though thankfully…
