That’s true, perhaps there’s an explanation there.
But what bothers me is the shift between plot lines that get dropped - why is Lydia’s family having problems now when she could afford to throw a ridiculous party in her house - more than one actually ( and have a boat house along the side ?).
Why does that come now ?
I saw your post and I've been wondering about stilestokes and money since season 1! First when Peter took out his battery. Then when he was at the mechanics in season 2. And then when he bought all that shit for Lydia for her bday. He bought a tv!

How the heck did he afford a flat screen TV? Does he have a credit card with magical credit scores? Does he have magic that makes his bank not notice huge withdrawals?
I mean, I tried paying for food twice in a month with my card in the early days of having it and I got blocked for spending more than 200 euros in a month! So how does he do it?
And oh my god why that car and how does it still run? I get that it’s probably cheaper to buy a second-hand car at first, but the gas consumption would give me a heart-attack ( and that’s even before considering repairs ). As far as we know, Stiles doesn’t have a repairman on hand. And no particular source of income except for his dad ( who was put on probation at some point, if I remember correctly!)
