This trip was absolutely wild - We might've lost and had to deal with some unnecessary bullshit, but I wouldn't have traded my last five years with this band for the world ❤ #howlinhuskies #socialaxethrowing #marchsadness (at Salt Lake City, Utah) https://www.instagram.com/ajsevigny/p/BvU_1tmgAEEwfjdAvNt4jFvcxtiEFqLbb2r9PU0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=14c1jii1n1mkz

dog with a blog
Hello everyone! Welcome to my official student blog! I got so excited to start writing that I had to take my watch and my hair tie off my wrist… what a time to be alive.
Wanna know a sweet secret? I’ve never done this before. This is some mega spooky territory we’re entering right now, but we’re in this together, and I have all the faith in the world that it’s going to be a fun ride.
If you haven’t read my short bio on the admissions blogs homepage, here’s a quick summary:
My name is Ece (pronounced AJ) Bapcum and I am a second-year at Northeastern University. I’m currently majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience and I have a minor in French! I was born in Istanbul, Turkey, but I grew up mostly on Long Island, NY. On campus, some of the things I am involved in include Husky Ambassadors, the DogHouse, Circle K, my Hall Council, and GEO (Global Experience Office) Ambassadors! My favorite thing I’ve done in college so far is study abroad for a month and a half over the summer in Lyon, France.
For those of you who are new to all things Northeastern, Husky Ambassadors is a way for those of us who want to share our experiences at college to do exactly that- to meet prospective students and talk about how even though we’re all on our own unique path, we found the right fit here. All in all, it’s a great time! Being an HA, meeting high schoolers from all over the world, and chatting with parents in the Visitor Center, is oftentimes the best part of my day.
The DogHouse. Picture TD Garden, New England’s largest concert and sports venue, shaking with the sound of screaming college kids, most of whom are repping the classic red and black combo. Picture the Northeastern men’s ice hockey team throwing themselves on top of each other in a pile after winning the Beanpot tournament for the first time since 1988. Picture seven entire sections above the opposing team’s goalie at the Historic Matthews Arena, packed with kids screaming “Let’s Go Huskies!” Picture banners, posters, and flags brightening up our side of the arena while the pep band roars out an iconic rendition of the DogHouse’s unofficial anthem: Stacy’s Mom. For my friends and me, the DogHouse is a place where we can bring out our school spirit and dial it to the max. Who needs a football team for that?
I’ll reserve a separate blog post for the other activities I’m involved with as well as stuff that I love doing around Boston because I did say this would be a quick summary but I always have a lot I want to share! If you haven’t yet gotten a good idea of what I’m like as a person, here’s a fun list of things I love (in no particular order): Dunkin’ cold brew with caramel swirl, cows, my Zara faux leather jacket, trying on funny hats, emailing memes to my friends, MY FRIENDS (!!!), taking pictures of people living their best lives, Hamilton, flowers, Van Gogh, my two adorable nephews, vines, and last but not least, traveling.
This semester, I’m in classes and applying for my first co-op: a feat that I thought would be absolutely terrifying but so far, isn’t at all! Another two things that are pretty unexpected for me this semester are that I am rushing a community service fraternity (APO!) and that I’m playing in the Northeastern version of the CBS show Survivor! I’m also planning on applying to my first co-op in the upcoming week so stay tuned for that fun stuff and more on my classes as we all go through the first wave of midterms.
