Starting in on holiday packages from the post office bounty! 

@sweetvoiceofdoom I can’t remember what my logic was in showing the INSIDE of the card rather than the outside when I took this, but thank you for the Bux card and the Swiss Miss, and the fun snowglobe that I wish everyone could see on the front of the “Tis The Season” card. 

@howshouldibegin sent me the penguin card with a super fun green crystals mask (and an optional nose wire, something I’ve never used but am excited to try!) We are all hoping the new year brings brighter days, for sure. 

Lastly, I got a fun vintage card and some single-dose superglue (ALWAYS useful in my home!) from @pale-chartreuse -- thanks for “sticking” it to me! :D

And thanks to everyone who sends cards and packages! A few more to go before I swing past the PO box to check February’s mail....

Never have I ever written a Stargate AU

There it is!

Ughhhh I feel like Atlantis technically fits the tone of Voltron better (grumble grumble) so that’s probably the better choice (whine hiss).  They go to this new galaxy, and Allura and Coran are in status like Old Elizabeth was and they end up lowkey leading or at least advising.

But the OG paladins would make a KICKASS Stargate team and there’s no denying that.

Actually, you know what’d be more fun?  I take it back this is what I’d do.

OG paladins are a Stargate team working for the GG/USAF, and they go through the Stargate and find basically Altea pre-destruction, right in the middle of the war with the Galra.  And they end up kind of taking a side and trying to help out.  No lions in this verse, but an alliance between Altea as it was and Earth.

Zarkon and Haggar would totally have been a couple who got Goa’ulded by a mated Goa’uld pair tho, like 4 sure.  Shiro’s arm is naquida-based and can detect them, along with channel energy into a slicey weapon, so he’s able to point that out and that’s the reason Altea gives these cute weird aliens the time of day tbh

Went to the fabricville sale with Captain Friend last night! Got several pieces of fabric and some thread all for 50% off, but HECK the lines were long! Got there at 7 and didn’t get out until 10:30 wow.

Tuesday Fic Rec #11

A Kiss and A Promise by @literaryoblivion​ | stiles/derek | t | 4k |

It took Stiles about a week to figure out that he shared his apartment building with someone who very well may be the hottest man he’s ever seen. It then took about three weeks to narrow down which of the possible six floors he lives on. After that it takes another week to figure out that the guy works as an EMT because he’s in the elevator wearing his tight uniform and Stiles didn’t think it was possible for the guy to look hotter, but it is totally possible.

Cute cute cute. Stiles pining for his EMT neighbor Derek. I love that Derek is the one who helps Stiles when he gets caught in a bad situation and happens to need an EMT. (◕ ‿◕ ✿)

Derek’s eyes are red, Peter’s are blue, his are gold, and Isaac is gone.

He understands, of course he does, Scott’s life has been completely turned head over heels, and considering that’s kind of mostly Stiles’s fault, it’s not like he can blame Scott for it. So he needs the summer to get his shit together - Stiles has stuff to do too, that’s fine.

This is kind of a total lie, which is probably why when Peter crawls through his window three weeks in, he bursts out with, “Thank fuck, yes, okay, absolutely,” instead of, you know, screaming and crying.

Why do I like sensory overload in fics? Maybe it’s because of my migraines and that it gets put into words on a page to explain the feeling. Huh. ANYWAY. This fic, all my love for this fic with Stiles becoming a werewolf. It’s quick it’s painful and has a happy ending. ♥♥♥♥♥

Everyone smells anxious and that should set off alarms in him but it doesn’t. The human begins walking towards him, slowly, until he’s standing in front of him. Derek looks up at him curiously, not feeling threatened, Derek stays calm.

That is until one of the werewolves takes a step closer to Derek, the human’s heartbeat picks up. This triggers Derek’s instinct to protect, and propel him to stand in front of the human. He flashes his alpha eyes at the approaching werewolf.

LOVE THIS. tiny de-aged derek, trusting Stiles, re-aging with his memories, and there’s eskimo kisses (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

Stiles bails Derek out of a bad situation, only to be caught in one himself.

OKAY BUT THIS FIC. Stiles backing up Derek, snow storms, tight spaces and trusting conversations. Cue realistic canon feeling development in the background and supportive Sheriff and it’s the cutest ( ˘ ³˘)♥

The stories Stiles’ mother told him, about the woods behind his house, were always amazing. And full of people who didn’t always look like people. Trees that moved, birds that brought luck, otters that understood English, a horse and a dog and a chameleon all with the same eyes. And the wolves.

Stiles is a writer and he returns to the woods after he goes away to school. Our pack is still pack, Kate is a short lived villain and our Derek is a quiet reader who pines after Stiles. All around a very, very sweet soft fic. (◠‿◠✿)

The third image is a package from @winds-wanderer; I LOVE the Lunch Money pouch and the postcards, and I’m pretty sure you sent the origami (but if not do let me know -- it got separated from its family in my bag :D). I’m planning to hang up the postcards at work! 

And lastly, thank you for your patience, the wonderful tartan bird card and “Fuctifano” coaster (OH MY GOD) are from Rua M; I plan to feature the coasters at my next get-together. Meanwhile, the awesome chocolates and postcard and neat brochure from Hawaii, the blessed candy and the new Ofuda, are from @janedrewfinally. I have to say I’m especially grateful for the Ofuda, since the cats managed to PULL DOWN AND EAT my previous one. I’m hanging this one higher on the wall. :D 

Thank you so much, everyone, for your wonderful cards and gifts. I know it always takes me some time to share them but I do love getting mail and I read and enjoy every single card I receive! You guys bring a lot of joy to my mornings.

Sam. Sam, is that a roll of painters tape at the top?

LOL! No, but I can see how you’d think that. It’s one of those little soft-silicon bracelets, like you get at fundraising walks and such. That one has tiny jingle bells attached to it, and I got it as a souvenir at some holiday festival or other a few years ago.

Yeah, I didn’t hold out a ton of hope for the movies, but I had a distant wish that they would hold off on the worst of the bullshit. Apparently no dice.

hanging trees is actually a callback to a much older tradition! i don't have all my research at hand, but iirc it was mostly done by poorer people who had less floor space to put up a tree (with the bonus that, in the era when trees were decorated mostly with food, it kept the kids from sneaking off with all the treats before christmas!)

You know, I swore I remembered that it started out as an older tradition somehow but I thought no, surely I imagined that. For some reason I thought it was Victorian.

1 - what’s your favorite way to dress?

i like harem pants and tank tops and skater dresses and doc martens. i dress kind of like a cartoon character in so far as my outfit choices are always pretty similar. 

5 - do you like to organize?

technically yes, but if things don’t have an obvious way to BE organised (by size, colour, alphabetical order, etc) i tend to just leave them everywhere instead. which is most things, unfortunately.

15 - do you prefer space or the ocean?

but those are my two favourite places! I can’t decide. i love both a LOT.

16 - if you could pick any planet besides earth, where would you live?

i once read about an idea someone had to colonise the upper atmosphere of venus with floating cities, which sounds incredible. so there, i think.

24 - what is your favorite thing to learn about?

animals! or generally any weird nature facts. and space. i love astronomical stuff, too. and i like learning how to make things, as well. and mythology. ok that’s a lot of things i guess?

40 - do you like light blankets or heavy blankets? 

it honestly depends. mostly i’d rather a light blanket because i run very hot, but on Anxiety Nights it’s nice to have something that weighs a bit more, makes me feel secure.
