Reality is something we perceive, that being said regardless of what reality may or may not be the only thing we have control over is our perception of it. I would say that the majority of the problems that people have are not external, they are internal. It is not as much as it is to be sick but how we perceive the fact that we are ill. You’ve been there: you start getting a headache and what happens is that your mind starts a psychological war against the headache. What can I do about this headache? Why do I have this headache? it sucks so much to feel bad? how long am I going to be sick?. What we begin to do is pour more gas into a small “fire” that we are expanding it. Fire is a strong term but I am using it only for the sake of that example. But their in lies the problem. Why would we perceive a headache as a fire--a problem that needs a solution. In life we look at a lot of things that are just processes as problems. The truth is problems and challenges are only stepping stones to something better.
A headache may be a message that your body is telling you that you need to drink water, or not stay in the sun for so long. Cut back to when you have the headache, so all these thoughts now build even more tension in the muscles of your head, this tension leads to even more pain and that leads to more focus on your PAIN. What I think is that we need to stop FIGHTING our feelings and our hurts. We need to recognize them and feel them. Like wait a second, something in my body feels weird, let me take a second to feel it. It’s like you're telling your body “I got the message I’m feeling pain on my knee” at that point you release the tension in that part of your body that somehow thinks that by adding muscle pressure to said area it will help. It won’t and it will only worsen. When you release the tension you’re letting the pain be and it might leave quicker. This is my experience. However this doesn’t just apply to a headache it applies to anything. If you don’t have the job, girl, man, house, money your mind starts a war. Stop that war and learn to accept that where you are is just part of a journey you must be in before you move forward.
Accept the fact that you are shy, don’t fight is. Once you accept it, you begin to listen to your thoughts as to why you feel so shy. Then you begin a dialogue with yourself instead of a war. When you understand why then you can move on to making changes. Let’s just understand ONE thing. Life is not a “fight” life is not a struggle. Life is what it is. You have two types of Janitors, the one that hates his job and hates cleaning and thinks that he’s a nobody and you have the janitor that is whistling while he’s cleaning the floor and gives kids advice and tries to make people smile. Being a janitor has nothing to do with it. Being human is not what your job is or what your skin color etc is. It is a combination of all those. Remember that being human means to love, to create, to smile, to cry, to love, hate etc… Never identify with anything in general other than your a human being. I think that my job in this life as also Jim Carrey said was to tell people “Let your guard down” be silly, drop the avatar, mask and status and remember that at the core you’re just like everyone else one more human being. Empathize with yourself. Remove class, gender and language as a way of separating from others in this life you’re allowing yourself to bond with others.
One of the things that makes people the happiest is when you realize that you’re not alone in the way you think and that others think like you, whatever the thought may be. In life we have to learn to allow life to take us in the path that it wants to take us. We are here for ride but we are lucky enough to have instincts to teach us what makes us happy, sad or scared. Our job is to listen to these seriously and let them lead us. When you smiled after you showed a photograph to your friend that is a sign that there is something about taking photographs that makes you happy, consider why. When your body reacted well to the girl you’ve been speaking to at the bar and know your heart is telling you to grab her hand. Do it!!! Your body and chemistry have reasons that you don’t even understand from a subconscious level for giving you that sign. Kiss the girl. When you feel like calling someone to tell them you appreciate them, call them. The list goes on.
Allow yourself to get lost in the ride that is life. There comes a point where you become so in tune with your subconscious and instincts that you barely question before you act and this is what flow is. It is when you finally realize you don’t have to “think” about what you’re doing. You just have to feel it and you get lost and no longer feel like an identity but you feel like part of a whole. As a skateboarder I can tell you that there comes a point that I don’t think about what I’m doing I just do it. As a musician I can tell you that trusting that instinctual message and not worrying about what or why it is coming but rather transmitting it allows you to make wonderful music. Conan O’Brian said something along the lines of there is something that is funnier about a joke that happens in the moment than one that is crafted together for weeks and months. That spontaneity is the thing that connects everyone. The one thing we all share is when we see our raw emotion expressing itself. Seeing someone crying when they see someone they haven’t seen in years. We all share that love. When someone does something questionable and we have that WTF is that person doing moment (when we actually say it) people begin to laugh. This is what I call authentic flow of energy. Authentic flow of energy is when a person is not afraid of expressing what their human nature feels. This liberates the mind from blockage and it creates a beautiful, shining undressed source of energy that cannot be ignored because it is so real, honest and true. Humans have to become masters of this. When they feel something they need to say it or do it.You feel like a woman is beautiful tell her, you feel like your boss is mistreating you, tell him/her how you feel. I’ve said it before but I think that humans are at the core beautiful creatures that share the same raw emotion. But it is up to us to let that authentic flow to shine, because when it shines it makes other people see that, that light is within themselves and they need to let it shine. This is beginning to sound like that Christian song lol. Anyways hopefully you get my point. Let’s allow all the layers of mistrust, doubt, fighting and anything like that fall and let's show who we really are.
All the stuff I say here is just my Point of View. I rely on that the reader is smart and knows how to apply these to his/her life.
