Allowing Humanity to Flourish
Humanity is flourishing. For centuries generations have been fighting one another about the old way versus the new way, the traditional vs the innovative and the new versus the old. However I think we have reached a new paradigm in which we can see clearly that one is not versing the other but actually one is growing from the other. The only challenge generation after generation will face will be to deal with understanding their own human nature (As I discussed in a previous blog). This is because even though we are growing from generation to generation each new born little “dude” has to go through the unlayering all the survival aspects of the deep need for safety that the ego holds on to and tries to protect. This does not mean to ignore or detest it rather to understand it, let it be and see when it’s really of use and when it isn’t. Also the acceptance of what I call “Objective Analytical TRUTH” this means that above all else one person has to be honest with themselves about what is going on with their behaviour and believes. This means that you can not hold on to a believe because it is dear to you or because it helps you to feel better at night when you go to sleep but you have to be honest and say “You know what this is a bit bull-shitty or I truly don’t get this yet (it may have good intent but…). Also being honest with others about what mistakes you have made and how you will fix them. The more you're not trying to “protect” yourself by lying to others about mistakes the more genuine you are and the more you grow . Are you overly introverted? be honest with yourself about it, Are you overly needy be honest with yourself about it, understand it more and more then practice the alternatives to it and keep the good stuff that you get from it. Be the first to say “I did forget this, I fucked this up etc”. Don’t worry your boss or mom or whomever it may be will think of you, they will remember when they made those mistakes and if they decide to label you based on an instance as “Lazy or stupid” this means that sadly they haven’t come to the realization that we are not one thing or the other, we are transitioning constantly..In the case that they do understand that they will know that they can confide in your honesty and that in the end you're truthfully trying your best not for them but for YOU. That distinction there is suuuuper important. The mission becomes to train each other to get passed those layers.
Now when I say humanity is blossoming I mean that humanity and the universe (which to me are two in one) has slowly been opening it’s eyes to what it is and what the path ahead is. Vague I know (to some of you maybe not) let me explain. We came from tribal border line animalistic ways based on little evidence and survival, to modern evidence based survival but ignorant to instincts and alternatives (don’t be a musician be an engineer) (Only hipsters care about the earth). Now some of us are beginning to understand that we don’t know that much and that we need to learn more from nature and ourselves . The difference between the first 2 is that they were set in their ways. The first “The king snake made us so therefore X”. The second “We came from the big bang there is no God so therefore” to “I’m not really sure but atleast I know that I don’t know and that is a great place to start and not only that but I can learn from my instincts and inclinations which may be wise guides to reach the truths that are hanging out there somewhere ”.
We have to acknowledge however that this didn’t come as a result of our brilliance (This generation or the one before) but as a result of many thinkers that have been shaping our way of thinking. These men are not geniuses themselves either they are just glimpses of consciousness that decided to open up their eyes to nature and what was happening around them and think outside of survival mode. Survival mode is basically the way human nature becomes when it is designed by someone else other than the self and stays within a stagnant non-creative, non-curious state. “Well I’m a construction worker (just an example) so my life is: work, bar on a Fridays, get laid and watch tv”. This way of living is a model that you are following that is not based on uncovering who you are but rather falling onto a stereotype or habitual spiral which makes it easier for you not to understand and grow yourself. This is actually an important part of human nature. It is natural for a little kid to ask himself “why do butterflies fly?”, “why does music make me feel good inside”, “Why does mommy love me so much”. When this aspect is left out and the search is confined, it does not die but it transforms into other types of energy such as lack of caring or beliefs that are stupid and in the end are bad for you. Same with creativity it is part of human nature. When you stop creating your essentially stopping your flow of being human and again the energy will not stay there it will convert to something different and most likely negative. It’s like an apple: It’s good to eat for a period of time but then it becomes putrid and becomes useful to something else. The good part is that we are lucky that apples are falling for us right now (we’re not at war, survival is not as intense as before and we are aware of a lot more things than before). So let’s learn to pick the apple and eat it while it’s ripe.
So what is there after we un-layer ourselves from “Survival Mode”, “Lies with the intent to make you feel good” and “Ignorance of Human Nature”?. An entire horizon of new understanding, exploration and ease. When I say ease (just to touch on the subject of understanding human nature once again because I think it’s important to hammer it on) I mean that (Here comes a metaphor) a plant doesn’t have a mom or a boss telling it you must grow FASTER, you must have these many apples, you must be “this or that” “If I water you more you will grow taller. A plant is simply growing and gets water when it rains. We have to understand that like plants we are simply “growing”. We shouldn’t force anything out of ourselves but rather allow ourselves to grow in the direction that we are naturally inclined to. What we can do is simply notice and encourage signs of direction and growth “I see you like painting, you should try studying that”, “I see you like making people laugh, try comedy”. Still keeping in mind we are not just one thing “comedian, musician, politician” we are many things. Back on track with what there is ahead. The more we allow humanity to grow toward what it naturally wants to become the more we will uncover not only the secrets of nature and ourselves because people will have chosen their paths based on their inclinations rather than the need to make money but we will be happier doing it. Being happier not only will open the doors to our creativity, love and curiosity but it will make it faster and more spontaneous. We would get up in the morning to fulfil our naturally occurring curiosity, not to reach on time and satisfy our hours to get a paycheck to pay for food. We wouldn’t go to work but we would go to a meeting place to work and collaborate with others. Humanity in understanding itself would understand nature better because it would see that it has to allow itself to flourish rather than mathematically making it work for a number that someone made up in a computer.
Picture little communities where people grow plants with each other, get together to show each other random things that they have created, present ideas that they know will be pursued, sexuality not being sensationalized but rather being understood and enjoyed for what it is. I think that the more we let ourselves “be” the more we would realize that we are very caring, curious, and have a wide scope of understanding towards many aspects of life. Who says that an accountant can’t write a song, or that a singer can’t give a good political idea and that a farmer can’t be a great philosopher. I believe that we all have all those different aspects of understanding in ourselves and we should allow each one to grow. So what do I see for humanity as this new era arises in the far horizon?. Love, creativity, understanding, collaboration and innovation. We all stand in the same ship that Christopher Columbus stood looking at the horizon and saying that the earth is not flat, however we have to allow ourselves to explore that curiosity that is innate in us. Cheers I say onto you with that super optimistic ending :)
